Chapter 9
I clutched Ryan’s sleeve, tears welling up: “Honey, is what they’re saying true? Did really keep a mistress downstairs?”
“I… I didn’t…”

Ryan stammered unconvincingly.
Before I could respond, the neighborhood aunties erupted.
“Didn’t what? You lying cheater!”
These ladies surprised me they had even more evidence than I did. It seems that if they want, they could practically had a PowerPoint presentation ready for me.
Sarah took me aside, speaking earnestly: “Sweetie, with cheating it’s never just once. You don’t have kids you’re young. Get divorced now, the sooner the better!”
Hiding my smile, I agreed: “You’re right, I have to.”
–
“He’s already living downstairs. Just kick this dog out let him sleep wherever he wants.”
I nodded again: “Yes, he’s leaving tonight!”
When Ryan heard I was serious about divorce and eviction, he panicked and showed his
true colors:
“You just said half this property is mine. If you want me out, you’ll have to buy me out at
market value!”
The neighbors exploded: “You want to take her property too?”
“I’m just claiming what’s mine. What’s wrong with that?”
Seeing me still trying to calm everyone while Ryan showed zero shame, the neighbors got even angrier. They all tried to talk sense into me, warning me not to let love blind me to this scumbag’s manipulation:

Too Late to Say Sorry

“Please tell me you’re not forgiving him.”
“Girl, don’t do anything foolish!”
I was moved to tears, touched by having such kind and supportive neighbors.

–
my father gave this property to me
“Thank you all for standing up for me. But don’t worry – my alone. Even if I’m still married to this scumbag, he has zero claim to it.”
I turned to Ryan, my voice firm: “You kept a mistress under our home, let her repeatedly provoke me, and deliberately made noise every night disturbing everyone’s peace. With all the evidence and witnesses here, Ryan, what do you have to say for yourself?”
Ryan hadn’t expected things to blow up like this. He crouched down, muttering weakly: “I have nothing to say… I was wrong. I’m so sorry, honey…”
