Ethan, numb with grief, stood beside Amelia’s coffin, accepting
condolences from the mourners.

Each face reflected shock and pity. Such a perfect couple, torn apart.

the headstone a fresh stab of pain. He traced her name with trembling fingers,
then leaned forward, embracing the cold stone, his forehead resting against the
carved letters.

Ethan locked himself away, seeking solace in alcohol, hoping to find Amelia
in his drunken dreams.

picked it up.
“Ethan, why are you drinking so much?”
He looked up, his vision blurry. A white figure stood before him. The shape,
the voice….. just like Amelia.
“Amelia?” He scrambled to his feet, pulling the figure into a tight
embrace. Amelia, is it you? You finally came back. I’ve missed you so much.”
Chloe gasped, startled by his sudden embrace.
But Ethan didn’t seem to notice, burying his face in her hair, murmuring
apologies and regrets.
Hearing him whisper Amelia’s name, a flicker of hatred crossed Chloe’s eyes.
Why did he love Amelia so much? Even in death, she haunted him. Couldn’t
he see her, see their child?
Thinking of the baby, she softened her voice. “Ethan, it’s me. Chloe.*
The words jolted Ethan back to reality. He released her abruptly, his eyes
clearing, then hardening with disgust and loathing.

She’d forgotten that Ethan, ruthless in business, didn’t tolerate threats, especially from the woman who’d destroyed the love of his life.
He looked at her, her once alluring face now repulsive. He crouched, tilting
her chin up with his hand, a chilling smile on his face.
