After the newlyweds finished their speech and stepped down from the stage, Shana walked over, holding a glass of wine.
She first offered her congratulations, then apologized. It wasn’t ideal to cause a scene at someone else’s wedding, even if it wasn’t her intention.
Thankfully, Eric and Henry were on good terms, and their families were close friends. So, they accepted her apology without any further tension.
Shana had drunk a bit too much earlier, and now the alcohol was slowly kicking in. As she still had some clarity left, she said, “Mr. and Mrs. Keller, sorry, I’m not great with alcohol, so I’ll take my leave now.”
Myrtle understood perfectly. She had heard about how little Henry cared for his wife, but seeing it firsthand was still shocking.
Any woman in Shana’s shoes would likely have lost it by now.
Yet Shana had managed to hold herself together in the face of everyone’s stares, never showing any weakness. That alone was impressive.
Myrtle’s sympathy for her grew, and she spoke gently, “Mrs. Floyd, let me arrange a car to take you home.
Her husband had already left, and it was likely that he had taken the car away with him. With Shana having drunk so much, Myrtle was concerned for her safety.
Shana appreciated the kindness but politely declined. No need to trouble yourself. I have a driver; Henry left one for me.”
Myrtle smiled and said, “I see. Well, take care on your way.”
Shana stepped off the cruise ship and stood by the docks.
The night air was cold, and her dress was thin, and it gave her goosebumps. Yet she seemed oblivious to the chill as she walked slowly toward the main road.
In truth, there was no driver. If that sc*mbag truly cared about Kate and the child, why wouldn’t he have remembered to leave her a driver?
The only reason she said that was to preserve the last shred of her dignity. She didn’t want to appear pitiful.
After the divorce, she still had to live in Portchester. She wasn’t going to let herself become the helpless, discarded woman in everyone’s eyes. No, it was her that rejected Henry, not the other way around.
As she walked, her head started to spin. She couldn’t tell if it was the wind, her tired eyes, or the high heels that were making her dizzy. A wave of discomfort surged through her, and soon, it spread throughout her body.
Tears streamed down her face, falling like pearls from a broken string.
She didn’t know how long it had been, but after crying until her head felt heavy and her throat tight, she

Shana had intended to rest for a moment, gather herself, and then take a cab home. But the alcohol took full control, and soon her head felt dizzy. She lay on the ground, and her eyes closed in exhaustion.
In her haze, it felt as though she had been transported back to that night. After escaping from that sleazy man’s clutches, she had tried calling Henry, only for Kate to answer. Sitting on the steps outside, her heart had frozen over.
Suddenly, someone approached. That person bent down, gently pushing her shoulder and calling out to her, “Wake up. Don’t sleep here, or you’ll catch a cold.”
Who was that?
Shana struggled to open her eyes, her blurry vision making out a perfectly tailored suit that highlighted the man’s impressive physique.
She immediately saw his face, but the countless lights and shadows before her eyes made it hard to focus. She squinted, trying to make sense of the image, and only then was she able to clearly recognize that face.
It was Henry. That sc*mbag!
Her anger surged, and without thinking, she sat up abruptly, grabbed the man’s collar, and demanded, “What’s the matter? You’re back now?”
Cyrus froze, caught off guard.
He hadn’t expected Shana to mistake him for Henry, but with everything she had been through, the anger/ and frustration must have clouded her judgment.
He softened his voice and said, “Shana, it’s me, Cyrus.”
But Shana wasn’t listening. She started shouting, “Henry, you’re nothing but a j*rk, a b*stard! a piece of trash! You could leave with your mistress, but you had the nerve to come back?”
Cyrus was speechless.
He was helpless and unable to hold back a smile at the absurdity of explaining things to a drunk person.
“You’re drunk. Let me take you home.”
As he reached to lift her, Shana shoved him away, her eyes wide with disgust.
“Don’t touch me. Go back to your mistress in the hospital. You’re filthy!”
Cyrus paused, seeing the tear–streaked face before him. His heart tightened with a twinge of pity.
“Henry, don’t think I care about you. I don’t. I’m just disgusted by what you’ve done. How dare you humiliate me like this, cheat on me, and embarrass me?
“If you didn’t like me, then you shouldn’t have married me. But no, you married me and couldn’t let go of your mistress. Now you’re dragging this out and refusing to get a divorce. What, did I do something wrong to you in the past life for you to do this to me?”

Shana was drunk. The words she had been holding in for so long, all the resentment, poured out uncontrollably.
Cyrus sat beside her quietly, listening to her vent.
It was better to let it all out than keep it bottled up.
Eventually, Shana grew tired of her ranting and crying. Her head slumped, and her body was about to fall over. Quickly, Cyrus reached out and supported her face, making sure she didn’t topple over.
As they got into the car, Cyrus turned to look at Shana, who had passed out in the passenger seat. Her eyes were red and swollen, and her face was pale. In the moonlight, she looked strangely beautiful, in a broken sort of way.
His hand reached out almost involuntarily, as though to touch her cheek.
But just before his fingers made contact, a drop of tears slipped from the corner of her murmured, “Henry.”

It was as if she was trapped in a sad dream, her voice carrying a soft, broken sob. “Can you … just once…. not leave me behind?”
Cyrus’s hand froze in midair, slowly curling into a fist.
At the hospital, the doctor was running tests on Kate.
Henry’s phone rang suddenly. When he saw it was Damon calling, he stepped out of the room to answer.
“Is she home yet?”
To his surprise, Damon apologized to him. “Henry, I swear, I just blinked, and Shana was gone. She left, and–I have no idea where she is…
”
Henry’s gaze darkened, his teeth gritting. “Damon, I ask you to do one trivial thing, and you can’t even manage it. What good are you to me?”
Damon muttered under his breath, “You couldn’t even take care of your own wife. How could I be blamed for losing her?”
Henry ended the call abruptly, immediately dialing Shana’s phone again, but it went unanswered.
He then dialed the landline at Moonville Bay, and Judy answered, saying Shana hadn’t returned yet.
Returning to the hospital room, the doctor had completed her examination and confirmed that Kate was fine, albeit slightly shaken and in need of rest.
He turned to Kate, who was sitting up in bed. “In that case, stay here tonight and rest. You can discharge
tomorrow.”
He put on his jacket, preparing to leave.
Kate anxiously called out, “Henry, I’m still uneasy. Can you stay tonight and keep me company?”

Henry calmly buttoned up his suit jacket and replied indifferently, “Chloe will come to stay with you.”
“Henry, are you going back to be with Shana? She almost caused me to have a miscarriage tonight, and you
Kate’s grip on the blankets tightened, her voice tinged with a mix of grievance and anger, hoping to evoke his sympathy.
Henry raised his gaze, looking directly into her eyes, his voice cutting through her words. “Did Shana push you? You know better than anyone.”
