Though I had a soft personality, that didn’t mean I was a fool.
But what could I do?
I nervously swallowed. “Mr. Nelson, you sald Green Nelson is your cousin, so doesn’t that mean she
should call me ‘cousin in–law‘?”
Mr. Nelson blinked.
Then he smiled. “If she doesn’t, you
can kick her out of the Nelson estate.”
“Alright,
I’ll marry you.”
I felt a slight blush creep onto my face, my heart pounding.
I was marrying Mr. Nelson?
The thought seemed surreal.
He pulled a bouquet of white roses from the car and gently handed them to me.
“Congratulations on our wedding, North.”
He called me “North.”
The affectionate tone made the very air between us seem to grow charged.
I stared at the bouquet, feeling confused.
How did he know I liked white roses?
And why did he bring them all the way here?
I guessed it must have been South who told him.
The next day, Mr. Nelson took me to get our marriage certificate.
He handed me another bouquet of white roses.
Along with it was a red envelope–my wedding gift.

The envelope was thin.
1–thought it was just a couple of hundred dollars for good luck.
But when I opened it, I found a black card with no spending limit.
I rushed after him, holding the black card. But the black Rolls–Royce had already disappeared into
the traffic.
Worried about drawing attention from my classmates, I handed the white roses to a flower vendor
on the side of the road.
Then, I hurried into the campus.
It had been almost twenty days since I broke up with Ryan Lewis.
But I still hadn’t seen him.
Instead, I bumped into his best friend, Long Lee, at school.
He stopped me, looking like he wanted to say something but hesitated. He stopped m

He leaned in and quietly told me, “Don’t forget, this weekend is Ryan’s birthday.”
I was shocked.
Did they have some kind of instinct to want me to chase after him?
Long coughed, and then explained, “North, though Ryan doesn’t say it, he actually wants you to come to his birthday party.”
I instinctively wanted to refuse.
He lowered his voice.
“I’ll tell you a secret: Ryan and Green Nelson broke up, and it’s really messy. You’d better take this opportunity.”
He gave me a teasing smile before turning and walking away.
I cursed under my breath and left the campus.

At night, I helped my father and brother prepare for the opening of the new store,
Occasionally, I received video calls from Gray Nelson late
te at night.
Our social status and careers were so different that we barely had anything to talk about.
Every time we spoke, I was filled with awkwardness, from my head to my toes.
But Gray didn’t seem to mind.
He always said gently, “North, you don’t have to talk. Just stay here quietly and keep me company.”
Sometimes he was working.
Sometimes he was sleeping.
And every time, I could see his deep profile through the camera.
His expression revealed a warmth that didn’t seem to match his status.
I don’t remember how many times I felt my heart flutter.
When my phone was about to die, I received a message from Long Lee:
“Don’t forget about Ryan’s birthday party tomorrow night. Dress up nicely.”

Ryan Lewis looked toward the door of the private room for the fifth time.
Long Lee smiled and reassured him,
“Don’t worry. I told North to meet us here. She’s probably still getting ready.”
Ryan elegantly picked up his glass and took a sip.
With a calm tone, he replied, “I’m not waiting for her.”
His friends laughed and teased him,

“Right, you’re not waiting for her. This whole floor of white roses is for us, and the matcha–flavored cake is for us too.”
Ryan shot them a glare..
His gaze shifted to the carefully arranged white roses, and his heart softened.
North loved white roses.
He remembered their first date.
He had taken her into a flower shop and let her pick whatever she liked.
he had chosen a single white rose.
He didn’t understand why, at the time.

She said it was because white roses were pure, and she had always hoped for a love as pure as
the rose.
The next day, he had given her a bigger bouquet.
She had been overjoyed, kissing him on the cheek several times.
He wondered, as he looked at the white roses now, if she would feel that same joy, when she saw
them.
