Chapter 5
The bedroom floor was in a mess.
After Carissa finished taking her medicine, she moved her belongings to the guest room.
As she passed by the pile of broken glass on the ground, she stopped her steps and bent down to pick up a photograph.
This was the only and also the last photo of her with Warren.
Last time she was packing up, she hadn’t figured out how to deal with it yet.
Madilyn unexpectedly took the initiative to make the choice for her.
Carissa smirked and tore the photo into pieces, casually throwing it into the trash bin.
That night, Warren did not come back.
The next morning at five o’clock, Carissa was awakened by the sound coming from the kitchen.
When Warren saw her with sleepy eyes, a trace of guilt crossed his eyes.
“Did I wake you up? Madilyn didn’t eat much last night, so I made her some seafood porridge and brought it over. You should have a bowl while it’s still hot.”
Carissa silently watched the rice porridge boiling in the pot.
Even though Madilyn had left for many years, Warren still remembered all her preferences and dietary restrictions clearly.
And she had been living with Warren for six years, just yesterday she mentioned her seafood allergy, but he didn’t pay any attention to it at all. Even the fact that he can cook, Carissa only found out last night.
Love and not love.
Sometimes, actually, you can see it at a glance.
Carissa said softly, “I didn’t have an appetite, there’s no need to save any for me.”
After saying that, she prepared to go back to the bedroom and continue sleeping.
But Warren suddenly spoke up, “Carie, last night I saw Madilyn getting hurt and I was a little worried. I said something wrong in the heat of the moment, please don’t take it to heart…”
Carissa nodded calmly.
“Well, the situation was urgent at that time, I could understand you.”
Warren didn’t expect her to be so generous. Looking at her lowered brows and eyes, he suddenly

“We haven’t been on a date for a long time. After we finish dealing with Madilyn’s matters, I’ll accompany you on a trip to relax and unwind.”
Carissa casually responded with a word.
Anyway, a few days later she was going to leave, so it didn’t make much difference whether she
agreed or refused.

Three days later, she and her friends came back home after shopping, but they unexpectedly found out that Warren and Madilyn had also returned.
The two of them were cuddling on the sofa, flipping through a photo album.
When she saw her, Madilyn’s eyes lit up.
“Ms. Solomon, you’re back! Warren and I were looking at old photos. Our friends used to always say that we looked like a married couple, and I thought they were joking. But a few days ago, when we went to take wedding photos, the photographer said the same thing. Can you come and see if we really look like a married couple?”
As the words fell, the air around seemed to have paused for a moment.
Madilyn’s words were a blatant provocation, but Carissa simply nodded without a care.
“I think they were right, the two of you indeed…”
Halfway through her speech, Warren suddenly interrupted her.
“There is a classmate gathering tonight, Carie, would you like to join us?”
A touch of sarcasm crossed Carissa’s mind.
Warren must have thought that she was angry, so he took her to the party to make up for it.
The car was unusually quiet all the way, and each of the three people had their own thoughts.
After arriving at the hotel, Madilyn walked beside Warren and naturally started talking about their past experiences in school. They even got so engrossed in the conversation that she voluntarily linked her arm with his.
Carissa remained silent throughout, simply following behind them quietly.
‘As soon as I entered the door, everyone crowded around.
“What’s going on with you two?”

“I didn’t expect that after so many years of twists and turns, the two of you ended up together!”
Madilyn didn’t explain either, she just blushed and shyly smiled.
At that moment, someone noticed Carissa at the door.
“This young lady was…‘
