Chapter 9
In the other ward.
Warren felt a sense of unease as he watched the sky outside gradually darken.
Madilyn noticed his strangeness, her eyes dimmed, and she spoke with a red–eyed, feigned
grievance.
“Warren, can you stay with me tonight? I’m really scared. Please don’t leave me alone, okay?”
She sobbed and cried, looking pitiful.
Seeing Madilyn crying with tears streaming down her face, Warren instinctively wanted to agree to
her.
As the words were about to be spoken, Carissa’s pale face and her eyes, which turned red with
suppressed pain during the abduction, suddenly flashed through my mind.
Somehow, his heart seemed to have been pricked by a needle, causing a dense and throbbing pain.
He furrowed his brow and rejected Madilyn’s request.
“Jared has been caught, you don’t have to worry about him coming to find you anymore. Carie was scared this time, I have to go back and accompany her. It’s late now, you should rest early too. I’ll
come see you again tomorrow.”
Upon hearing these words, Madilyn’s crying abruptly ceased, and she grabbed his arm tightly.
She forced a stiff smile in response to the man’s puzzled gaze.
“I, I will go with you. It is also my responsibility that Ms. Solomon was kidnapped, and I want to apologize to her in person.”
Although Madilyn didn’t know why he suddenly changed his attitude, she knew that she couldn’t let
him be alone with Carissa.
Warren didn’t think much either and agreed right away.
I don’t know why, but since just now, an inexplicable sense of unease has been lingering in his
mind.
He only wanted to see Carissa immediately now.
He hurriedly walked towards the other end of the corridor to the ward.
Before he even reached the door, he smiled and said, “Carie, I’m back. What would you like to eat tonight? I’ll go buy it for you later…”
When he saw the empty room with no one in it, the smile on Warren’s lips instantly froze.

- “Carie, Carissa!”
He rushed into the ward unbelievably, anxiously calling out Carissa’s name.
The nurse from the next ward was quickly attracted over.
“Ms. Solomon had already been discharged in the afternoon. Could you please be mindful of the volume and not disturb other patients‘ rest?”
Upon hearing these words, Madilyn secretly rejoiced in her heart, but outwardly she pretended to be weak and aggrieved.
“Ms. Solomon must still be angry with me, Warren. I really didn’t mean to mistake her for someone
else…”

If Warren had heard such words before, he would have comforted her without hesitation, and might have even helped her blame Carissa for being petty.
However, this time he walked out of the door without saying a word, with a cold expression on his
face.
Yes, Carie must have been angry.
After all, she had just been so frightened, and I hadn’t been there to accompany her properly.
This time, he was indeed in the wrong. He will apologize to Carie sincerely and explain to her the
recent events.
Madilyn, who was left behind, stood still for a moment and then hurriedly caught up with him, grabbing hold of him.
“Warren, where are you going? Ms. Solomon is in a bad mood right now and probably wants some time alone. It’s better not to disturb her for now. I’ll accompany you back tomorrow…”
