Chapter 19
Carissa relaxed only after she drank a cup of hot water.
If Melvin didn’t show up today and Warren kept pestering her relentlessly, she really didn’t know
what to do.
But didn’t Melvin leave? How did he suddenly come back?
It seemed like he noticed her confusion, so Melvin took out his phone from his pocket.
“I don’t know which absent–minded person left their phone in my car.”
Looking at the familiar phone case, Carissa blushed and quickly reached out to take it.
“Thank you, Melvin.”
Not only did I thank him for returning my phone, but also for helping me tonight.
Melvin smiled and said, “You don’t have to be polite, just call me Melvin from now on. Do you have time tomorrow? Can I treat you to a meal?”
Carissa hesitated for a moment, avoiding his intense gaze, and slowly spoke.
“Melvin, the man just now was my ex–boyfriend. Although I had already broken up with him, you

She had already made her words very clear.
Carissa was not a fool, she could see Melvin’s affection for her.

However, Melvin did not back down, he gently comforted Carissa.

Carissa displayed a sincere smile.
“Thank you, Melvin.”
As the words fell, Melvin’s ears inexplicably tinged with a blush of red, and he hurriedly bid ‘farewell and left.
Perhaps it was because of Melvin’s comfort, or perhaps it was because of his determined gaze.

She slept particularly soundly during this nap.
The next morning, Carissa went downstairs as usual to get ready for work, but she ran into Melvin
downstairs.
As she looked at his slightly disheveled hair and the same shirt he wore yesterday, a ridiculous thought rushed into her mind..
“Did you stay downstairs all night yesterday?”
Melvin nodded naturally.
“Well, I was afraid that your ex–boyfriend would come back to harass you, so I waited here for a while. In the end, I couldn’t be bothered to go back, so I just spent the night in the car. It works out
perfectly because I can still drive you to work this morning.”
Carissa pursed her lips and asked, “Why didn’t you go upstairs to sleep?”
Melvin hesitated for a moment, a hint of embarrassment crossing his eyes, as he avoided her gaze.
