Chapter 18
After leaving the restaurant, Greta did not go home but went to find Sharon.
Seeing her coming alone, a hint of surprise flashed across Sharon’s face.
“What about Kayson?”
“After you left, he also got busy with something, and I thought I would start my new job in a couple
of days, so I came to check the situation first.”
Sharon didn’t think much either. Since she had just finished her work at hand, she enthusiastically took her around the company.
After work, the two of them made another appointment to have dinner and only then did Greta return to her apartment.
She opened her phone and saw a verification message, which was sent by Kayson.
Suddenly, Greta remembered the words he had said before parting.
“Since you have made up your mind to get a divorce, I will respect your decision. I am sorry that I
couldn’t live up to your liking and disappointed your feelings. But after all, we have been married
for three years, even though we are separating, can we still be friends?”
Are we friends?
What was the necessity for her to continue being friends with Kayson?
Greta couldn’t think of it.
In her imagination, they were supposed to part ways amicably and never have any contact again until they grew old and died.
So she did not immediately agree to this application.
When it was ten o’clock and she was planning to rest, she realized that Kayson had sent another
verification message.
This time, with annotations.
“In the divorce agreement, there are some clauses that I would like to discuss with you.”
When it came to matters of divorce, Greta immediately agreed.
Kayson didn’t waste any words either, or directly sent over the few highlighted items that needed to be modified.
Greta took a closer look and realized that he had divided the originally planned property and modified it into equal shares.

- 1.
That is to say, after she obtained the divorce certificate, she wanted to take away half of Kayson’s
sets.
A windfall came unexpectedly, but Greta felt somewhat uneasy, so she decided to send a voice
message.
“Regarding the division of property, it would be sufficient to follow the original agreement. You don’t have to allocate me so much property according to the marriage law, otherwise I would feel unworthy of it.”
Kayson seemed to have anticipated that she would say that, and quickly replied to her message.
“I know you didn’t agree to marry me just for the money, and the reason I modified the contract is not to compensate you. It’s just a legal requirement, and you deserve all of it. Don’t think too much about it.”
Greta explained a few more sentences, but Kayson consistently replied to her with the same
rhetoric.
She was also tired and didn’t want to persuade anymore, so she let him go.
Time passed day by day, and Greta officially started her job, gradually adapting to the workplace
life.
A month later, she received the divorce certificate, as well as countless properties, stocks, and
other assets.
Looking at the countless zeros in her bank account, Greta didn’t know how to handle it, so she decided to put it away as if nothing had happened and continued living her life.
The cold winter days have passed, and spring has arrived.
Greta went to work as usual and as soon as she arrived at the company, she was called into Sharon’s office for a meeting.
The content of this meeting revolved around the collaboration with several domestic IT companies
During the meeting, they were selecting an assistant to accompany Sharon back to her country for discussing cooperation.
Her gaze swept over everyone in the room and finally settled on Greta.
“Greta, come with me.”
Caught off guard by being called out, Greta was quite surprised.
She
he had just started her job for a quarter, so theoretically she was unable to handle such an important task.

Since Sharon chose her, she had no choice but to agree.
After the meeting, the two individuals stayed behind in unspoken agreement.
Sharon didn’t beat around the bush and spoke directly.
“Greta, although this time I have to discuss the details with four companies at the same time when I return to the country, our focus is to be placed on the cooperation with the Brady Group.”
Brady?
Upon hearing this word, Greta vaguely guessed what it meant.
She looked at Sharon with hesitation in her eyes.
Kayson?”
Sharon nodded and hesitated for a moment, but ultimately chose to be open and honest.
After our last gathering, Kayson secretly arranged to meet me again. It was during that meeting that the tone for this project was set. He actually told me some things about you and him, but I felt that it was your personal privacy, so I never revealed it.
“But this project has now reached the most critical stage. In order to ensure that everything goes smoothly, I would like to ask for your help. Can you accompany me back to my home country to participate in the discussions for this project? I know it might be a bit presumptuous to ask, but I hope you can understand.”
