Chapter 8
Since Noah and I had obtained the certificate, the police arranged a meeting for me and Noah’s family to negotiate before sentencing.
If I didn’t pursue it, Noah would only make verbal criticism.
But if I were to be serious, Noah would have been arrested and thrown into prison on charges of
fraud.
When we met again, my mother–in–law knelt down in front of me, crying, begging me to spare Noah and completely losing the arrogance she had at the wedding.
Noah also looked dispirited, with a few days of detention causing stubble to grow on his face, giving him a bruised appearance.
He knelt down, just like his mother, and sincerely apologized to me with a repentant look on his
face.
“Lina, it was all my fault. I was momentarily blinded and that’s why I did something that hurt you.”
“I really know I was wrong this time, please forgive me, I won’t dare anymore in the future. When
father gets better, we can have another wedding, I will never let you down again.”

“You never intended to have the 288,800 anyway, and now you haven’t lost anything either. Can we just pretend that this never happened?”
Facing his expectant gaze, I slowly shook my head, “Of course not.”
“Noah, if you really needed money, we could have discussed this matter properly, buty
t you didn’t. Instead, you chose the most despicable way. You wanted a dowry without contributing anything, and you wanted to save face. You even wanted to use my mother’s lifelong savings to treat your father.”
“You treated my feelings for you as your capital to exploit, your actions were not only a betrayal of my emotions, but also a trampling of the law.”
“This is the divorce agreement, please sign it.”
As my words fell one by one, Noah’s face grew even paler. Finally, he drooped his head in resignation, no longer defending himself for his mistake.
Seeing his back as he left, I knew that we were completely over.
After dealing with the matters related to the case, I found another job and started my new life with the encouragement and support of my mother.
Three years later, my career was steadily rising, and I had also become a small internet celebrity thanks to the events of my previous wedding. I had my own side–business in the field of social

media.
The once unattainable 288,800 dollars is now only half a year’s salary for me.

Those who had cut off ties with me before, upon seeing the turn of events, came back one after another to apologize to me. However, I naturally won’t give such “fence–sitters” another chance.
Noah’s father, upon hearing that Noah had been imprisoned, became so enraged that his condition worsened, and he passed away.
former mother–in–law was scolded and poked at her spine every day, causing her to become
timid and shrink like a startled quall.
My mother, who had suffered for many years because of her son, I comfortingly patted her back and told her.
“They deserved all of this.”
If they hadn’t had evil intentions, they wouldn’t have suffered the consequences now.
Noah was released from prison after serving his sentence.
He didn’t know where to find out that I haven’t remarried yet and haven’t arranged any blind dates. Astonishingly, he shamelessly stood at the entrance of my new company holding a rose.
He deliberately wore his favorite college outfit and styled himself, trying hard to highlight his appearance when they first met.
But the wrinkles on his face and the calculations in his eyes made him look so disgusting.
As soon as he saw me, he knelt down on one knee and looked at me affectionately.
“Lina, it has been three years already, shouldn’t you have let go of your anger?”
“I heard that you have been waiting for me all these years. Shall we start over?”
“I will reimburse you the 288,800 dollars, and every penny I earn in the future will be handed over
to you. I will discuss everything with you, and it was my fault before. From now on, whatever you
