Chapter 7
Anne didn’t expect Ruth to be so calm, and the smile on her face froze instantly.
But soon she nodded and helped the person up the stairs.
After the figure disappeared, Ruth picked up the bottle of champagne and looked around with at
smile.
“Would you like to have a drink, everyone?”
When such a thing happened, naturally no one was in the mood for it, and they all found excuses and slipped away.
As she watched the slowly emptying living room, Ruth leaned back on the sofa and sipped her drink in small sips.
At eleven o’clock, Anne finally came down.
Without anyone around, she no longer felt like performing. She arrogantly slammed the door and
left.
As soon as she left, Ruth’s phone rang
Seeing the words “Liam“, a faint smile unconsciously appeared on her expressionless face.
“Didn’t you just make a phone call in the morning?”
There came a muffled sound from the other end of the phone, with Liam sounding a bit downL
“Today is your birthday, Honey. You didn’t even want to come and see me. Can’t I even call and
say ‘Happy Birthday“?”
Remembering the pitiful expression on her face when he found out she didn’t come over in the morning, Ruth’s heart softened a little and she gently coaxed him.
“Darling, this is the last birthday that I’ll celebrate within the marriage. If you’re not happy, then I’ll give you the ownership of all future birthdays. You tell me how you want to celebrate, and we’ll do it that way. Is that okay?”
Upon hearing this, Liam’s tone contained a hint of amusement as he repeated, “However you want to celebrate, celebrate that way. Honey, no backing out.
gout”
She laughed softly and said, “I divorced my husband for you. When have I ever deceived you?”
The two of them chatted for several more minutes. After finishing their long phone call, she was about to hang up and take a rest when suddenly she heard the sound of fireworks exploding outside the window.
She turned her head and saw in the pitch–black night, millions of fire trees and silver flowers

blooming, cluster by cluster, even brighter than shooting stars.
Liam’s gentle and particularly serious voice came into my ears,
This time, he did not call her Honey.
“Ruth, happy birthday,”
“Every year after that, I would accompany you.”
Upon hearing this, Ruth was stunned.
Was this put by Liam?
She hurriedly ran to the window and only then did she realize that the fireworks were being set off throughout the entire city, undoubtedly costing a lot of money.
Liam was just a student, how could he possibly have so much money?
Well, it seems like just a coincidence.
The next day, after Garrett woke up, he saw the unfinished decorations in the living room and realized that yesterday was Ruth’s birthday.
He rubbed his still aching head and called his assistant, asking him to pick a few sets of the most expensive diamond necklaces and have them delivered immediately.
The person who arrived was not the secretary, but Anne.
Seeing her appear here, Garrett felt his head ache even more, and his tone was slightly heavier than
usual.
“How did you come?”
Anne’s mouth pouted instantly. Her eyes filled with a look of grievance.
“I wanted to see you more, so I volunteered to come over and deliver this. I’m sorry, if you’re angry, I won’t come again in the future.”
Garrett fell for her act, seeing her teary–eyed appearance. He immediately surrendered and quickly pulled her to comfort her.
“Okay, I didn’t mean it that way, stop crying, hmm?”
Anne, however, remained aggrieved and tears kept streaming down her face.
Until Garrett, in order to coax her, allowed her to make any request, he fulfilled everything.
She finally stopped her tears, her voice soft.
“Anything was possible?”
“Well, even if it’s the stars in the sky, I would pick one for you.”
“Then I okay?”
ted to move into this villa for a few days, living together with you day and night, is it
The smile at the corner of Garrett’s mouth froze instantly.
There was nothing else, just because he and Ruth had promised before that no matter how much trouble they caused outside, they would not bring anyone back home.
He was just about to refuse when he heard a sound of footsteps coming from the staircase, along with the voice of the nanny greeting.
He quickly got up and wanted to explain to her why Anne appeared here, but Anne spoke first.
“Good morning, Madam. This is a birthday gift from Mr. Todd for you. By the way, my house has been experiencing some security issues lately, and Mr. Todd has agreed to let me stay here for a few days. I hope you don’t mind.”
Ruth ignored her provocations, her face remained calm.
“Please go ahead.”
