It was only after Ryan left that Aveline managed to break free from his grasp. Her expression was calin as she said, “What else can I do? I’m perfectly fine.”
After a few days of rest, Aveline’s complexion had become much healthier than before. She no kager looked as weak as before. Alexander muttered, “Indeed, you’ve always been in good health.
Aveline sneered inwardly but didn’t explain. Instead, she took off the coat she was wearing and said. “Mr. Sterling, rest assured, I will abide by the terms of the contract and will not remarry.”
The divorce agreement was carefully drafted by him, and although it provided her with many material possessions, the clause prohibiting her from remarrying practically cut off all her future prospects.
If she were to remarry, she would have to pay ten times the compensation fee.
That would be billions.
She could sign the contract without hesitation because she knew she didn’t have much time left. She
wouldn’t and couldn’t care less.
The alcohol she had just consumed churned in her stomach, causing waves of pain that left her feeling battered. She gritted her teeth and was about to turn and leave.
But her wrist was tightly held by the man, right where Ryan had touched her earlier.
“Mr. Sterling, your fiancée is still waiting for you. Do you want everyone to know that I’m your ex–wife?” she asked, but he ignored her words and simply said coldly, “It’s dirty, clean it.”
Aveline felt like there was something wrong with him, not her!
They were already divorced, yet his possessiveness towards her hadn’t diminished but had reached a
twisted level.
He forcibly pulled her into the elevator. Just as she was about to argue with him, the elevator stopped on
fifth floor, and a group of drunk people squeezed in.
Alexander furrowed his brows but silently took a step back, cornering Aveline in the corner. His tall figure acted like a silent wall, isolating everyone else.
As she looked at his well–tailored suit and meticulously groomed back of his head, she realized that he
was someone who always did things in a strict and orderly manner, yet at times, he could he terrifyingly
extreme.
The contradiction made her feel fearful.
Aveline felt an even stronger pain in her stomach, and the piercing pain seemed to affect every nerve in
her body.
She desperately wanted to find a support to catch her breath, but she was standing in an elevator surrounded by mirrors on all sides, with the sky seemingly out of reach. Standing behind her ex–husband, even a slight bend would be a sign of weakness.
She was close to a man with a broad and sturdy back, a place where she had often leaned on in the past, but now it was out of her reach even with a gentle touch.
She counted the floors of the elevator, and each second felt like an eternity.
Finally, they arrived at their floor. Sterling Corporation had business in various fields, and this hotel was one of his properties.
When he entered the password, she glanced at it and realized it was the same as the safe’s password, still
related to her.
Before she could guess Alexander’s intentions, her body was forcefully pulled into the room. He casually threw her coat aside, and in the blink of an eye, she was dragged into the bathroom.
Aveline endured the pain and looked at him. “Mr. Sterling, we’re already divorced. I don’t have the obligation to play the faithful game with you anymore. I’ll leave first.”
His slender fingers had already pressed the switch, and the cold water from the showerhead poured down on her, drenching her to the core.
“Hen… ry…!” she called out his name word by word.
Under the icy shower, Alexander held Aveline’s face and looked at her with a stubborn expression. “Aveline, didn’t I tell you not to let anyone touch you? I don’t like it, hmm?”
