In the past few days, Alexander did not appear again. Maya took care of Aveline while scolding. “Do you think this Sterling guy might be possessed? Why does he keep acting strange? One moment he wants to divorce you, the next moment he can’t stand seeing you with someone else, and now he says you’re faking illness to deceive him. Why don’t you go get some willow branches to drive away evil spirits?”
Aveline remained indifferent. “He’s not possessed, he’s just sick.”
After two days of rest, aside from her usual stomach problems, everything else had basically returned to normal.
Connor suggested re–examining her, but Aveline politely declined, saying she had already done a check–up at another hospital and was undergoing treatment there.
Connor didn’t think much of it and secretly investigated for two days before bringing back an answer.
“Maya is here too?” Connor, wearing a white coat with a white shirt and black tie underneath, and black trousers, stood tall and imposing.
Maya paused her complaints about Alexander and raised an eyebrow, whistling, “Tsk, as expected of the class leader, this uniform looks like it belongs to a chief expert on anyone else, but on Connor, it’s just a seductive uniform.”
Connor smiled warmly and pointed to the expert badge on his chest, “Maya, you can question my looks, but you can’t question my expertise.”
Maya teased him a few more times, and Connor continued to smile, “Aveline, if you do another discharge examination and everything is fine, you can leave the hospital‘
“Maya, wait for me, I’ll be right back.”
Maya stuffed cherries into her mouth, “Do you want me to accompany you?”
Aveline waved her hand, “No need, it’s just a routine check–up.”
With that, she and Connor walked out one after the other.
Examination room.
The previous doctor had already left, leaving only the two of them in the room.
“Please have a seat.” Connor extended his hand to invite her.
Aveline was a little anxious and quickly sat down, “It seems Connor found something.”
Connor nodded and put away the smile on his face.
“Aveline didn’t say it wrong, someone really tampered with it in secret.”
“Who was it?”
Connor said in a serious tone, “That day, Daniel arranged for you to have the examination done by experts from the hospital. However, the doctor who did the CT suddenly had diarrhea and was afraid of delaying your examination time, so he handed it over to his assistant intern, Mick. After Mick finished preparing, he was called out by a nurse, and it was at that time that someone sneaked in and switched your films. The films signed by the doctor were indeed normal, but they were not your pathological test
report.”
Connor handed Aveline a cup of warm water and continued, “The other party is very skilled in computer operations and even hacked the surveillance. The radiology department was already short–staffed, so he took advantage of the opportunity. Fortunately, a cleaning aunt saw and reported the details.”
Aveline took a sip of water and put down the cup, then added, “Is the person male or female?”
“According to the aunt’s description, that person was wearing a hospital uniform, male, very tall, probably around 185 cm, strong build, and wearing a big pair of black–framed glasses on his face. She didn’t see his appearance clearly.”
“Did he have any distinctive features?”
Connor nodded, “Yes, he had a black mole on his right ear. Perhaps feeling guilty, he walked away quickly and almost slipped on the freshly mopped floor. The aunt saw a falcon tattoo on the sleeve he exposed. She didn’t think much of it at the time, but later realized that we all have to undergo checks before joining, so it’s generally not allowed to have tattoos on our hands.”
Aveline looked down at the water cup, contemplating, “Just one tattoo won’t be enough to identify the person.”
“Aveline, don’t worry. I’ve already submitted the surveillance footage that he tampered with to a hacker expert. It should be restored soon, and I’ll inform you as soon as possible.”
