A figure wearing a white coat suddenly approached, pressing down on Beatrice’s arm and calling for a nurse to come and reinsert the needle.

Beatrice’s parched throat roared with a broken voice, and her reaction was even more intense. Unable to use her hands, she lifted her foot and kicked the man directly in the abdomen.

The ward door closed slowly, leaving only Beatrice and Caden in the room.
Beatrice came to her senses and tried to break free from the man’s embrace.

His voice was deep and icy as he said, “Did you know she would come looking for you?”
“I don’t know, didn’t Uncle Caden say I’m not smart enough? How could I possibly guess what others are thinking?” Beatrice whispered.
“Are you stubbornly speaking?”
The man sat behind Beatrice, unable to see her expression or discern her emotions.
He just reached out and pulled the blanket over the two of them.
The man’s body was warm, and instantly the cold blanket became warm and cozy.
