“You said that I stood here and dragged you, right? Well, since I already have the upper hand and am in the spotlight of the whole banquet, why did I shoot myself in the foot and make such a mess?”
Tanya couldn’t find a reason for a while and could only skate over and say, “Nola, I have never really understood you. How could I know why you did this?”
Nola laughed and said, “But it looks like I chose a very hard way to drag you. I was standing in front of you, but I stepped back to pull you down. Anyone can try this posture, and you can easily know that even if I want to cause you trouble to make you fail, I will do it this way,”
As Nola said, she took advantage of Tanya’s unprepared state and kicked Tanya backward. Tanya let out a scream and suddenly fell backward. Fortunately, Javion quickly caught Tanya. He said, “Nola, don’t go too far.”
“I’m sorry, I’m just giving a demonstration! As you can see, if I want to make her stumble, wouldn’t it be easier to do it that way? And won’t I be happier to see her spill all that red wine on herself like that? Why should I choose the hard way, to step back and even bump into Mrs. Hadley?”
What she had said made sense.
“Please think about it. Under what circumstances will a person subconsciously take a step back?”
Hearing this, everyone understood what Nola meant. At this point, Janie stood up and explained, “Only when one wants to avoid danger does one unconsciously back away, and my sister–in–law backed away because she wanted to avoid Tanya.”
It seemed to make sense.
Tanya couldn’t think of a way to explain it and said hastily, “It’s not like that. How could I take the initiative to make trouble for Nola? I didn’t do that.”
“I stepped back, bumped into Mrs. Hadley, dodged sideways, and damaged your clothes. I deeply apologize to you. I’m truly sorry about what has happened!”
Only now did Nola apologize to others. Her manner was courteous but still dignified.
Everyone there had to quietly admit they couldn’t match Nola’s calmness and composure in the same situation. It was fortunate for the Grayson family to have such a graceful girl as a daughter–in–law. No wonder Elvis and the other members of the Grayson family had been so protective of her and had kept a low profile.
“This is such a strange thing for you to say. If I’m looking for trouble with you, why are you chasing me instead? This is a banquet, not a market, and you couldn’t have been like this for no reason.”
“I didn’t, I really didn’t!”
Seeing that everyone was looking at her suspiciously, Tanya panicked and looked at Javion desperately, hoping he could say something.
“Javion, you must believe me. I mean her no harm, and I didn’t do this intentionally. I will apologize to Nola.”
“That’s okay, I understand. I believe you.” Javion didn’t dwell on the truth. He just believed that Tanya wouldn’t look for trouble with Nola.
“I think everyone should be very clear about what’s going on. I’m a person who makes a clear distinction between personal feelings and the public interest. I am aware of what we should be talking about on different occasions. No matter what happens, it’s my fault that your clothes are dirty, and you were shocked. I’m ready to accept whatever you want me to do.”
Even though it was not her fault, Nola stood up to take responsibility. This young woman gained everyone’s respect, and even Mrs. Hadley had a look of approval on her face.

After a moment of silence, Elvis walked forward and stood beside Nola.

“I will take responsibility for all your losses. Isn’t there a saying, no discord, no concord? Maybe next time we’ll have a chance to go out together. Nola is still young, and she still needs guidance.”
Elvis said cleverly. It was originally a bad thing, but they managed to get a good reputation and a great impression out of it.
The women were flattered and laughed, “How fortunate for your mother to have such a rational, composed daughter–in–law. She’s truly enviable.”
“I would be honored to have the opportunity to receive your guidance.” Nola knew the rules very well and spoke decently. With a few words, she made those women smile happily.
“The clothes are just a trifle. Don’t take it to heart. This may be how the universe made us meet. However, if we invite your mother–in–law to coffee in the future, don’t refuse because we are old.”
“Of course not. It’s just that I’m not as knowledgeable as my mother–in–law. I’m afraid of making a fool of myself in front of you.” Nola felt that she should take time to learn etiquette from her mother–in–law. Even if she was not good at it, it might help her get through this situation.
She couldn’t be too immodest in front of those elders.
It was such a surprise how such a big fuss ended like that. Tanya’s performance was in vain and didn’t affect Nola in the end. Instead, it allowed Nola to shine in front of those rich women.
Tanya was surprised at how skillfully Nola handled the situation. She wondered why she hadn’t realized before that Nola was so formidable and if Nola’s past submissive appearance was an act.
Being at a disadvantage, again and again, made Tanya feel a deep sense of frustration. Nola seemed to have changed into another person, and Tanya felt she didn’t know Nola anymore.
Was she going to continue to be suppressed by Nola in the future?
Tanya was full of reluctance, but she did not dare to make trouble again. She could only keep it in her heart and promised herself that if she found fault with Nola in the future, she would not let her go.
