Hospital.
Anthony still lay on the hospital bed as before, relying on nutrient solution and various medical devices to keep him alive. Bryce naturally took off the stethoscope and smiled at Aveline. “I’ve also studied medicine, so I wanted to check on Uncle for you.”

Bryce conducted a routine check on Anthony, and his gestures and movements made Aveline feel that he was not just a simple

“Aveline, let me take a look at Uncle’s latest medical report.”

Aveline pulled out all the reports and handed them to Bryce, who examined them carefully.

In the dim light, Aveline laughed like an innocent child, without any pretense or sorrow. How long had it been since she had strolled out like this, eating her favorite snacks like an ordinary girl?
“Aveline, I remember you used to love laughing when you were little. You looked so beautiful when you smiled. You were clearly just a little girl, but you insisted on acting all mature and serious.”
Aveline shook her head helplessly. “I wasn’t trying to act mature. It’s just that life has bent me.“
“Aveline, if Uncle Anthony wakes up, can you go back to how you used to be?”
A gust of wind blew, causing the ancient–style lanterns above to sway. The scene, rich with ancient charm, became even more beautiful and enchanting.
Aveline smiled. “I want to go back, but I can’t.”
A peach blossom petal danced in the wind, as if in a movie scene, landing on Aveline’s hair.
“Aveline, don’t move.”
Aveline was startled as Bryce reached out and gently brushed the petal from her hair. The young man’s shadow cast over her face, and she realized that the timid child who used to follow her around had grown up, even towering over her by half a head.
The light shone on his face as he held the peach blossom petal. “You see, everything in the world is trying to heal you, but you refuse to let yourself be healed.”
