The faint smile on Ava’s face instantly vanished.
Elias saw Ava’s expression turn cold, and he immediately snapped out of it.
Reese stood expressionless on the side, not saying a word.
She had figured it out. Lukas’s friend was a flirtatious person. She never expected that he would set his
sights on Ava
Elias decided to leave while things were still under control. He blinked at Ava, “I’ll come to see you again
later
As Elias left. Reese looked at Ava and said, “Ava, I just talked to Senior on the phone. After we finish work this afternoon, we’ll come over to see you. Take good care of yourself and ignore Elias. I can see through
him.”
Ava glanced at Reese, “I can see through him too. Don’t worry. I only have feelings for Cole Harris.”
Reese looked at her with mixed feelings, “It’s good that you know. And don’t call him Ren anymore. Cole Harris no longer exists in this world. There’s only Cole Hopkins. Do you understand?”
Ava nodded, “Reese, I understand.”
After Reese tidied up the blanket for Ava, she left.
As soon as she arrived at the parking lot, she saw Lukas standing not far away, popping a mint candy into
his mouth.
He saw Reese and his eyes flickered, “Get in the car, I’ll drive you back to the company.”
Reese hesitated. She didn’t dare to assume that Lukas was waiting here specifically to drive her back to
the company.
She refused, “It’s alright. I drove here today, and I’ll be coming back in the afternoon as well.”
Lukas’s expression showed a mix of anger and annoyance. He repeated himself, “Get in the car. I don’t want to repeat myself for the third time. If you need it, I can drive you back in the afternoon too.”
Reese quickly shook her head, “Really, there’s no need, Mr Strakovski.”
Lukas’s face darkened, “I have something to talk to you about.”

He finished speaking and opened the car door, placing his hand on the door.
Hearing his words, Reese seemed to understand something. She immediately spoke seriously, “Mr Strakovski, I know what you want to say. Don’t worry, today’s events were just a coincidence. I won’t consider it as fate bringing us together from a thousand miles away, nor will I entertain any
inappropriate thoughts about us being destined for each other
Lukas’s handsome face turned pale, his voice through gritted teeth, “It’s not that I wanted to talk with you
about.‘
Reese looked a bit confused, “Then what did you want to say?”
Lukas glared at her with a cold face but remained silent.
Reese stood still for a few seconds, feeling overwhelmed by Lukas’s gaze. She decided to walk towards the
car.
After all, she had ridden in his car before, so there was nothing to be afraid of.
Lukas finally snorted and closed the car door, taking the driver’s seat.
As the car left the hospital, Lukas took a long time before speaking, “When did you meet Anthony?”
Reese answered truthfully, “Today.”
Lukas sneered sarcastically, “You meet someone today, and suddenly, you’re on such good terms with them. Your relationships seem to progress by leaps and bounds in such a short amount of time.”
Reese’s internal alarm bells rang loudly, and she quickly looked at Lukas, “Rest assured, Mr Strakovski. No matter how fast my relationship progresses with anyone, when it comes to you, I will ensure that I maintain the most basic boundaries and not make you uncomfortable.”
Lukas’s face turned as dark as squid ink. “Where did you get that?”
“What do you mean, then?” Reese furrowed her brows, a little puzzled by Lukas’s words.
Lukas struggled to stay calm and not argue with this woman. “It’s best for you to keep your distance from him. Don’t let others catch the both of you and spread that you knew Anthony before and collaborated to frame Alexa. Do you understand?”
Reese was momentarily stunned, and then it all clicked in her mind.
She hadn’t thought of this possibility before, but considering the vivid imagination of some journalists, it was indeed possible.
She quickly nodded, “Rest assured, Mr Strakovski, I will be careful and not give anyone a handle.”

Larlene was furious. The traffic light turned red, and he stepped on the brake, turning his head to glare at Reese with extreme displeasure, “Can you stop with the formal speech? It sounds irritating to my ears.”
Repar hesitated for a moment and pursed her lips. “Alright, I’ll change it.”
Lukas never expected that someone’s words would make him so angry.
Although every sentence Reese said sounded respectful and even submissive, he found it deeply unsettling
However, upon further thought, he was the one who asked Reese to keep her distance and not entertain any inappropriate thoughts, and now, he couldn’t even curse at her.
Seeing him silent, Reese couldn’t help but ask, “Mr Strakovski, Is this the only reason you called me?”
Lukas responded coldly with a vague “hmm.”
Reese nodded, “Then thank you for reminding me. Without your words, I wouldn’t have thought of it
myself.”
Lukas furrowed his brows and looked at her sharply.
Reese quickly added, “Sorry, I’m used to saying it that way. I’ll make sure to stop talking to you formally
from now on.”
Lukas snorted but didn’t say anything else.
Reese turned her head to look out the car window, trying to lower her presence as much as possible.
