Chapter 62
Allison suddenly stopped in her tracks. She followed the voice and spotted Shawn standing quietly under a tree, his gaze intense and unwavering.
“I gotta go. I’ll call you later,” Allison said, cutting off her conversation abruptly as she hung up and walked over to Shawn. She halted about a meter away from him, clearly annoyed. “How on earth did you find me here?”
Shawn gave a small, dangerous smirk, narrowing his eyes slightly. “Avoiding me, are you?”
Allison frowned, exasperated. “Why would I avoid you? I told you I was heading back to my hometown.”
Shawn stepped closer, closing the gap between them. Instinctively, Allison took two steps back. This only seemed to irritate Shawn more.
“You mentioned going home for a visit, not that you weren’t ever coming back to Havenbrook, Shawn said, his eyes swirling with emotion. “How long are you going to keep this up?”
Allison let out a sharp sigh, meeting his fiery gaze with a calm demeanor. “I’m not making a fuss, Shawn. We’re done. Please, stop bothering me.”
“Done?” Shawn scoffed, a cold laugh escaping his lips. “It’s only over when I say it is.”
“Shawn, are you out of your mind? I thought you were into Kate. Go be with her and leave me alone.”
Shawn raised an eyebrow, his tone softening slightly. “Are you jealous?”
Allison rolled her eyes internally. Seriously, could he be any more full of himself?
“Kate and I are just friends. Don’t be so dramatic,” Shawn insisted.
Allison laughed bitterly. “Friends who sleep together, huh?”
A flicker of guilt crossed Shawn’s face. “What are you talking about?”
“When Kate came back, you hooked up with her more than once, weren’t you?” Allison taunted. “You think I didn’t know? I just didn’t care enough to bring it up because I’ve moved on.”
Moved on.
Hearing her say that, Shawn felt a sharp pang in his chest. He looked genuinely hurt. “Moved on?”
“But I haven’t,” Shawn admitted, his voice softening with a hint of desperation. “I’ve been thinking about you nonstop. Let’s get back together, Allison.”
Allison’s eyes filled with disdain. Was Shawn seriously having a split personality moment? Angry one second and pitiful the next?
“It’s not happening,” she said coldly.
“Why not?” Shawn suddenly shouted, losing his cool.
People passing by started giving them odd looks, and Allison felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment.
“Could you not yell at the neighborhood entrance? You might not care, but I do.”
Shawn grabbed her wrist, his emotions spiraling out of control. “Allison, come back with me!”
“Let go!” Allison struggled to free herself, but Shawn’s grip was like a vise.
Her eyes narrowed, her voice turning icy. “If you don’t let go, you’ll regret it.” She was ready to show him just what she was made of.
“I’m not letting go!” Shawn insisted, trying to pull her in for a kiss.
“Allison, I miss you so much,” he murmured as he leaned closer.
