Chapter 70
Shawn dropped his gaze, pondering the situation. Seemed like a solid plan. Winning over a young girl in her twenties was going to be a walk in the park compared to dealing with Zack.
“Heading back to the hotel, Mr. Reynolds?” the driver asked.
Shawn mulled it over for a beat before giving the driver a new instruction, “Stop at the mall entrance up ahead.” Kate thought Shawn was in the mood for a shopping spree, and chimed in cheerfully, “Shawn, are you planning to get a gift for Mr. Hartley’s cousin? Let me tag along! We’re about the same age, so I know exactly what she might like.”
As she chatted away, the car rolled to a stop right at the mall’s entrance.
“Out you go,” Shawn said, his voice calm and collected.
Without missing a beat, Kate hopped out of the car.
“You too,” Shawn directed his assistant in the front seat.
“What?” The assistant was caught off guard for a moment but quickly complied, “Oh, sure thing, Mr. Reynolds.”
Kate waited by the car, expecting Shawn to join her. But to her surprise, the car door shut, and the sleek black Maybach sped off without him getting out.
Her smile faltered as she stood there, a bit lost in the breeze. What was Shawn playing at? Did he really just
ditch her?
Shawn’s assistant stood there awkwardly, sharing a puzzled look with Kate. With a sheepish grin, he said, “Mr. Reynolds probably has his own agenda. Well, I should get going. See ya.”
Fuming, Kate stomped her foot in frustration and whipped out her phone to call Shawn.
In the car, Shawn felt the phone buzzing but ignored it, rubbing his temples in irritation as it continued to
-vibrate.
Eventually, he told the driver, “Head to Lakeside Residences, across from Lakeside College.”
“Alright, Mr. Reynolds.”
Lakeside Residences was where Allison lived. As soon as the car pulled up, Shawn spotted that guy trailing Allison into the complex. He jumped out of the car and rushed after them, only to be stopped by a security guard.
“Sir, I need to verify your identity,” the guard insisted.
Thinking quickly, Shawn bluffed, “I just moved in and haven’t registered yet. Let me in. I’ll sort it out tomorrow.”
The guard wasn’t buying it. “In that case, please show me your ID and tell me your building and apartment number.”
Seeing he was getting nowhere, Shawn tried to force his way in. But the guard held firm, “If you don’t cooperate, and I’ll call the cops.”
“Let me in!” Shawn’s frustration boiled over, his eyes blazing with anger. The thought of that guy being with Allison was driving him insane. Had they already slept together? Images of them in bed flashed through his mind, and it nearly pushed him over the edge.
“Let me in!” Shawn shouted, throwing a punch at the guard.
Sensing things were spiraling, the guard quickly called for backup. As Shawn clashed with the security, Allison and Joshua strolled further away, blissfully unaware of the chaos.
Shawn found himself in the middle of a scuffle at the complex entrance. When more security arrived, he

couldn’t fend off all of them and was eventually taken down.
Finally, the police showed up and took him away.
