Chapter 50
Amara had no idea about the plan but nodded “Sure, let’s go together
That evening. Lilians returned home
Her parents had worked hard as blue–collar workers, which was how she met Finnian during a college internship at a construction site
However, after Liliana made a name for herself in the entertainment industry and earned substantial wealth, with Finnian’s support, she urged her parents to retire. She bought a luxurious apartment downtown, transforming them into city sophisticates.
As soon as she walked in, her mother, Jenny Porter, hurried over and took her bag, asking cautiously. “Liliana. why haven’t you been answering your phone lately? How’s the baby? Are things good with Finn?”
“Have the shoots been tiring. Liliana? her father, Ethan Porter, chimed in as he approached. Make sure not to overdo it. That little one you’re carrying is the future of this family, after all. Things can’t get awry”
“I get it. Why so many questions? I can’t even keep up with them.”
Liliana just got back home, and what she received was her parents‘ barrage of inquiries about the baby. Feeling a wave of irritation, she brushed them off and retreated to her room.
As the door clicked shut, Jenny murmured, “Why is she so touchy about the baby? She won’t even let me take her for a check–up. So stubborn.”
“Alright, just leave her be. She must know what she’s doing. How about we go out and have some fun?”
Liliana lay on her plush bed, scrolling aimlessly through her phone, her thoughts drifting to Finnian. He’d been acting normal these days, not treating her any differently after the online drama involving Amara. Still, she couldn’t shake this uneasy feeling.
She pondered for a moment and decided to test the waters with Finnian.
Gazing at the promotional poster for an upcoming auction on her phone, she dialed his number. “Finn, there’s an auction this Friday. Would you take me?”
When Friday arrived, Amara donned a sleek black evening gown, her hair elegantly swept into an updo, revealing her fair shoulders and graceful neck. Her eye makeup was meticulously done, and she wore a mysterious black butterfly mask, giving her the allure of attending a masquerade ball.
Elysia, in a shimmering silver gown, was stunning in her own right. However, as they entered the auction hall, all eyes were drawn to Amara.
It wasn’t that Elysia lacked beauty, but Amara’s mask was so unique and enigmatic. If this had been a masquerade ball where everyone wore masks except one person, that person would undoubtedly be the center of attention.
But this wasn’t a masquerade, and with Amara being the only one masked, she became the focal point.
Elysia led Amara to seats in the third row, whispering, “Ama, see, even with that mask, you’re captivating. You’d be strikingly stunning when you take it off–Finnian will regret everything.”
Amara smiled subtly. Having been labeled “ugly” for years and subjected to countless disdainful looks, she couldn’t deny the thrill of being in the spotlight for once.
But her mood shifted abruptly when she spotted Finnian and Liliana entering the venue together. Finnian, in a sharp black suit, was detached and graceful, exuding an unaware handsomeness and an air of authority. While Liliana wore a silky red gown, her lips painted a matching crimson, as alluring and charismatic as ever.
