Chapter 83
Shawn squinted against the sunlight pouring in, his voice barely audible, “Allison.”
Jayden’s voice jumped in surprise. “What? Allison? She’s getting engaged? To who?”
“Who she’s marrying isn’t the issue,” Shawn said with a desperate intensity. “I won’t allow her to marry that guy. She belongs with me! I’m going to win her back!”
“Uh…” Jayden was stunned, trying to process Shawn’s declaration.
After a beat, he cautiously said, “Shawn, isn’t this a bit… over the line?”
Shawn sneered, “Over the line? I don’t care about anything. I just want her with me.”
Jayden was at a loss for words.
Seriously, man? Shawn treated Allison like a second choice when she was with him. Then, he started messing around with his first love once she came back. Now that he and Allison are over and she’s about to get engaged, he decided it’s time to act all devoted?
Unbelievable.
Jayden sighed and said, “Man, stealing someone’s fiancée isn’t something I’ve done, so I wouldn’t know how–good luck with that.”
Joshua was busy in the kitchen, whipping up lunch for Allison.
After they finished lunch, Allison mentioned, “Some of my coworkers and I are going to visit a colleague in the hospital this afternoon.”
“Is this the colleague who got hurt in that mugging incident?”
-Allison nodded. “Yeah, a few of us from the legal department are going. We need to pick up some flowers and
fruit.”
Joshua replied, “I’ll have my assistant take care of that.”
Allison didn’t argue, “Alright.”
John drove over to pick her up.
“Mr. Fisher, here’s the fruit basket, flowers, and supplements you requested.” John opened the trunk of the Cullinan, displaying everything Allison needed.
“Thanks.” Joshua nodded.
Allison smiled. “Thanks, John.”
John grinned, “No problem.”
Fifteen minutes later, the Cullinan rolled up to the hospital entrance.
Allison hopped out and walked around to grab the gift basket from the trunk.
As the Cullinan drove off, Elliott approached. “Wow, Allison, did I just see you getting out of a Rolls–Royce?”
Allison frowned, “What’s it to you?”
Elliott smirked, “Didn’t know you had it in you.”
Her coworker, Jack, jumped in eagerly, “Allison, who was that guy?”
Allison answered honestly, “My boyfriend.”
“Boyfriend? Hahaha,” Elliott laughed mockingly, “Sure, we get it.”

Allison ignored the ridiculous insinuations as she carried the basket. “I’m off to see Brody.”
As Allison walked away, Elliott watched her leave and gossiped with Jack, “That guy with the Rolls must be Allison’s sugar daddy. I didn’t peg her for someone who’d be a sugar baby.”
Jack, always ready to gossip, nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I wondered how she could afford to treat the entire office to a fancy dinner. She spent tens of thousands without blinking. Turns out she’s got a sugar daddy.”
Elliott looked on disdainfully. “What a disgrace.”
The next day, as the afternoon was winding down, Nicole approached Allison’s desk and handed her a file.
“Allison, negotiating cases is usually the business department’s job, but you know, being a lawyer needs negotiation skills. It’s often best to handle cases yourself. I have a case here that needs your attention.”
