Chapter 108
Chapter 108
Allison hung her head low, “It’s all my fault.”
Rose turned to her sharply, “Allie, what are you talking about?”
Allison laid out everything that had happened.
Emily’s voice was filled with reproach, “So Joshua took the hit for you?”
Allison’s lips tightened into a thin line. “Yes.”
Emily wasn’t pleased, “Allison, you were way too impulsive. We had already called the police, and there were security guards at the estate. Couldn’t you have waited a bit longer? If you hadn’t acted so rashly, Joshua wouldn’t be hurt for no reason.”
“I’m sorry, Grandma Emily, it’s all on me,” Allison said, her voice strained, as she bowed her head even lower.
Emily kept at it, “You’re causing such a mess before you’re even part of the family.”
Javier’s expression darkened. “What exactly do you mean by that? Let’s be clear, Joshua stirred up this trouble, and my daughter is the victim here. How can you pin the blame on her?”
Javier’s tone turned icy. “Easy for you to say ‘wait a little longer.’ That person had my daughter kidnapped, with a knife at her throat, threatening to kill her if Allison didn’t show up. It’s easy to judge when you’re not in that kind of danger.”
“Security?” Javier scoffed.
“Speaking of security, let me ask you, what were the Fisher family’s guards even doing? How could they let someone snatch Lizzy in broad daylight like that? Were they there to rescue her or just to clean up after? Lizzy is Allison’s sister. Was it wrong for her to be desperate to save her?”
Javier was genuinely furious. Not only was the engagement party ruined, but his younger daughter was -kidnapped, and his older daughter nearly got hurt trying to save her. They were the victims, yet here they were
now being blamed. It was ridiculous!
He didn’t give anyone else a chance to chime in and went on questioning Emily, “You think Allison was impulsive? If it had been your son kidnapped, with a knife to his throat, would you be so calm?
“And don’t give me that ‘Joshua took the blow for Allison‘ nonsense as if the knife should have been meant for my daughter instead.
“It’s absurd to blame my daughter when the real culprit is right there. Is the Fisher family really into this whole ‘blame–the–victim‘ thing?”
Ray cleared his throat. “Ahem…”
“Javier, calm down. This isn’t Allison’s fault,” Ray’s eyes had a sharp, cold glint as he looked at Emily and asked, “What are you even saying? How can you be so unreasonable?”
Emily was fuming, her chest rising and falling with anger. “Fine, fine, now you’re turning this on me too. I’m done arguing with you all!”
Then, she turned on her heel and left.
“Javier, don’t be too upset. It was indeed our oversight that led to this situation,” Ray said, trying to be reasonable.
Javier took a deep breath, though his expression remained stern. “Joshua’s alright, and I’m heading home. Lizzy’s still shaken, and I need to check on her.”
Ray nodded and turned to Ben. “Ben, see Javier out.”
Allison wanted to check on Joshua, but Javier’s face remained firm. “Allison, come home with me. I don’t want

them to point fingers at you again if anything changes with Joshua’s condition.”
Those words made the Fisher family members‘ faces shift. Emily’s earlier comments had already left the Owens family feeling distant, and now they didn’t know what to say.
Allison turned, looking torn. “Dad…”
