Chapter 0045
KIAN’S POV
She’s like a raging ball of fire when she steps out of the car, visibly shaking with rage that is nothing like I have ever seen before. It almost deters me, almost rips apart the courage with which I used to accost her after hours of waiting. Almost.
I am no fool. I knew from the second time her personal assistant came to tell me she was in a meeting that it was a lie yet I waited, like a fool. I waited because I hoped that I’d be able to catch her if I just stayed long enough.
On a good day, waiting around for someone was an insult to my name and everything I have built. The hushed whispers of the employees as they passed by me at the waiting area more times than I could count is a testament to that fact. But even that didn’t make me back down, after all, Leslie has managed to make me feel and do things I never thought possible in the last few weeks.
So waiting for five hours didn’t hurt at all until the flushed–face and totally unconvincing personal assistant returned for the last time to tell me Leslie was no longer at the office. Like hell she wasn’t.
I waited some more at the underground garage in my car, watched every car drive out of it until there was only one left with a driver waiting dutifully by it. Doesn’t take a genius to know who the car belonged to and now here I am, finally standing face to face with a red–faced Leslie.
“Are you insane?” She all but yells, “Were you trying to get me killed?”
I stare. At her face that I haven’t seen in what seems like forever. At the way her hair that is usually packed in a tight bun is now fiercely tumbling down her back, a few strands matted across her face most probably because of the near–collision. At how the blue pant–suit hugs her body perfectly.
I can’t deny that deep down, I also used grandfather’s illness as an excuse to see her because God…I’ve missed her. I’m stuck in a trance, staring at her for what seems like minutes until her next words snap me out of it.
“The men you hired didn’t do the work you paid them for so you came to finish the job yourself, is that it?”
“What?” I blurt, genuinely confused at the outburst. Before I can say another word, she’s reaching for her phone and typing furiously on it. “What are you doing?”
“Calling the police, you know, so they can get here on time before you try to murder me again.”
I don’t understand a word that’s leaving her lips but I rush at her with insane speed, my hands clamping around her wrists to stop her. She yelps, shock making her go rigid in my hold. She gets over her shock in the next second just as I am relishing the feel of her skin against mine after so long.
“Let go of me. Right now!” She yells. Behind her, her driver attempts to make a move towards us but he backs away the moment my eyes meet his. I catch sight of him typing into his phone but I pay him no attention, trying to get the woman in front of me to calm down.
“Leslie, calm down. I just wanna talk.”
“What makes you think I want to talk to you? Did you already forget Kian? We. Divorced. You can’t just show up at my place of work and ask to talk.”

Chapter 0045
The reminder of the divorce has me wincing slightly, my hold on her loosens and giving her the chance to snatch her arm away from me. She glares daggers at me as she rubs her arm like it’s now infected by my mere touch. The same touch that used to make her shiver in pleasure whenever I bothered to make love to her now makes her tremble in disgust.
Without another word, she spins on her heels and heads back towards her car.
“Grandfather is back.” I say and that stops her halfway to her car. It takes a moment before she reacts but her reaction isn’t one I expected. She just continues to walk back towards her car like she didn’t hear me. She opens the car door.
