“You don’t have to explain again, Travis. I know you’re only looking out for me and I am grateful.” She says softly and I nod. She goes silent after that as if contemplating her next words, perhaps a response to the question I asked earlier.
“I already handled Kian. He won’t show his face around me again, you don’t have to worry about him,” Leslie tries too to look and sound convincing but it’s an epic fall because I catch on immediately. “Are you sure?” My brows are raised.
“I am fine, Travis, I promise. It was just a little hitch in my day, nothing serious.” She forces a smile, it’s stiff but I nod anyway..
“Okay.”
“I would love to spend some more time with you but I am exhausted, maybe we can catch lunch together later? Tomorrow?” She offers and that actually makes me smile.
“Sure, I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”
She nods and disappears into her room. I stand there long after she’s gone, my emotions fighting each other for space in my mind. I couldn’t decide if I should be worried about Kian or be over the moon that I’d be spending time with her tomorrow,
I sigh then turn around only to get startled by Sir Hanson. He chuckles
“Really? Sneaking up on me?” I throw playfully at him.
“Wouldn’t be the first time.” He replies and I frown as I remember that one time in college when he got a spare key to my room just because he told a sob story to my landlady that he was my father and I ran away from home two years ago and he only just found me.
She gave him the key, heard she even cried as he told him the story. He did all that just to drag my ass back to business school when I almost gave up.
“How long have you been standing there?” I say, hoping he didn’t notice me staring at his daughter like I want to take off with her to another planet where it would be just the two of us.
“Long enough to know you desperately want to be inside that room with my daughter.” He doesn’t mince his words. Who was I kidding? Nothing gets past this man.
I clear my throat, embarrassed and worried he’d be annoyed.
“Sir, I=”
“You like my daughter..maybe a bit more than that, you care a lot about her.” He cuts me off, looking straight at me and I slowly nod.
I’m sorry, I=”
“You have my blessings.” He cuts me off again. I blink, surprised.
“What?” My voice comes out strangled.

Chapter 0048
“You are a good man, Travis.” He says.
“But…I’m too old for her.”
I’m 40. And I can’t help but worry that now that I have a chance with her, she won’t be able to look past the huge age difference.
“Leslie is a smart girl,” He says, eyes gleaming with pride, “I hate myself for not being there to see her grow into this talented and special woman that she is today. I can never forgive myself for it and trust me,
She is a Travis you’d never forgive yourself too if you let her go because of such flimsy things as age. smart girl and I am sure she knows you only have good Intentions for her. If you are willing to chase her, you have my full support. Better you than that Kian punk.”
Sir Hanson’s words layer up my confidence. I am willing to chase Leslie, she’s worth the chase. And now that her father is more than willing to support me, I just need to remain the only one in the race.
There is only one obstacle–Kian. He still affects her, still makes her unstable despite the divorce and I will do anything to get him out of my way.
Anything at all.
