Chapter 0047
Chapter 0047
TRAVIS‘ POV
I am restless, pacing the front porch of Sir Hanson’s home.

Clenching and unclenching my fists. Cracking my knuckles repeatedly out of a sheer force of habit, anxiety and maybe even a small hint of anger. It’s a little past 7pm, an hour and a little past the normal time Leslie is supposed to get off work but she is yet to return home.
Now, now, before my worry makes me come off as obsessed and paranoid, I never planned on coming here tonight in search of Leslie. Sure, I think of her every single moment of the day. I want to call her every damn time to ask her to have dinner or maybe lunch with me. I want to go to her father’s mansion everyday after work just so I can see her face.
But I never did those things. I held back and fought the urge to do them because the last thing I want is to scare her away or make her feel like I am taking advantage of her divorce to make a move on her. I like how she relaxes around me and I could just go ahead and die if that ever changes.
The only reason I am here is because of the call I got while I was in a last minute meeting. I personally hired a driver to take Leslie back and forth from work after the last incident at the warehouse. I gave him directions to call me the moment he senses danger around her.
He called and it turned out the danger was her ex–husband and my very…very irritating nephew. I didn’t think twice before canceling the damn meeting, jumping into my car and heading to Hanson’s Fashion House.
I was already halfway there when the driver called to tell me they were already on their way back to the mansion so I just made a U–turn and drove to her father’s mansion instead.
While it’s only been like twenty minutes since that call, it’s enough time for me to be shaken with worry. Especially as I have tried to call Leslie’s phone since the driver informed me about what happened. 1
I am already considering jumping back into my car to go looking for her again but I hold that thought when her car drives through the gate and pulle
into the garage. She steps out of the car and relief flares
inside of me.
I don’t wait, I meet her halfway with quick, steady steps that betray how I was feeling just a moment ago. Leslie looks worn–out, beautiful nonetheless but worn–out.
It puts a hold on the relief I felt when I first saw her because I know that she isn’t like this because of working all day on her designs. It’s that punk, Kian. He’s the reason her pretty hazel eyes are dull. He’s the reason she almost walks past me, lost in her own head.
“Hey, hey,” I hold her back. She blinks and finally snaps out of her thoughts.
“Travis? What are you doing here?”
“I called.” I say. Her eyes widen slightly in surprise.
“You did?” She starts to search for what I assume is her phone inside her bag but I stop her.
“I am so sorry, Travis…I didn’t hear the phone ring. Her eyes tell how genuine her apology is. I melt, clenching my fists again to stop them from palming her cheeks.

I smile instead, “Hey…it’s fine. You’re here now and you’re safe and that’s all I wanted to know.”
She nods and we walk back to the front porch together
“What did Kian want with you?” I ask as soon as I close the door behind me. Leslie pauses, meets my eyes for half a second and swallows before looking away. “You know, I am not trying to invade your privacy but after that incident at the warehouse, I was worried about your safety. That’s why I told the driver to report any suspicious person around you.”
Again, I don’t want her to think she doesn’t have a mind of her own. I don’t want her to think of me as Kian. Never.
