abroad in the first place. If not, you would be Mrs. Fuller by now! Listen, don’t be too stubborn, just give him whatever he wants-
“Could you please stop talking?” Susanna interrupted her.
She never wanted to go abroad back then, but she was left with no choice.
“I’m your mother. I’m only looking out for you. What’s wrong with me lecturing you?”
Helen pursed her lips, clearly displeased.
She fed Susanna a few sips of chicken broth, then added, “To be honest, it’s obvious to everyone that you two were together. Look at the mess now. You came back home only to leave the country again in no time. Your father and I don’t even know how to face our friends. When they ask about it, I’m so embarrassed I don’t even know where to hide.”
Susanna closed her eyes for a moment, patiently asking, “Where’s Dad? What has he been up to these past few days?”
Her father had clearly promised her that he would help her deal with Lenora. However, there didn’t seem to be any results
