Chapter 21
Dusk gently crept over the land. A gentle breeze stirred, and a few beautiful clouds at the horizon bloomed like flowers in the fading light.
“Nathan, which university are you planning to apply to after the college entrance exams?” Lily suddenly asked as they were about to part ways,
“For me, it’s probably going to be the Riverfield College of Economics. What about you? Northsdale University? Or are you going to study abroad?”
Nathan responded.
In his past life, after Lily scored an astonishing eighth place among the entire province on the college entrance exams, she chose to study abroad instead of attending Northsdale University. Nathan didn’t know exactly which country or university she had chosen. In his past life, his knowledge of Lily’s whereabouts was limited to hearsay.
My mom wants me to go to Imperial College Hamelot, but…”
Lily hesitated for a moment but didn’t say anything more.
Just then, a cab pulled up. Nathan raised his hand to flag it down for her.
Lily waved goodbye to Nathan.
Nathan sighed softly as he watched her get into the cab.
Oscar looked worried. “Nate, it seems like Lily will probably go abroad after the college entrance exams. Do you really think you two can be together?”
Nathan rolled his eyes. “I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Lily and I have always been just friends.”
Oscar scoffed. “Yeah, right. You can pretend all you want, but I don’t believe you don’t have any feelings for her.”
Nathan smiled and said nothing.
Could someone like Lily, a princess living in her own world with everything she could ever want, really need someone like him?
When Nathan got home, Viola approached him. She mentioned that the Summerset Festival was coming up and that she had baked some harvest pockets. She wanted him to deliver them to Jasmine Butler.
“Mom, do I really have to B
Nathan protested, pulling a face.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to help out with errands for Viola. The problem was that Jasmine happened to be Cheryl’s mother.
When it came to Cheryl, Nathan’s approach was to avoid her as much as possible. The last thing he needed was the 18–year–old version of himself stirring up conflict with the 36–year old version of himself.
“No, you have to go. I’ve already told Jasmine you’d stop by, and you’d help Cherry with her math too.”
“Mom, you didn’t even ask if I agreed. You’re not respecting me,” Nathan said, giving Nicholas a pitiful look.
“Dad, aren’t you going to say something?”
“Honey, I think…”
“Shut it.”
“Son,
r you going to listen to your mom?”
What else could Nathan say?
He had no choice but to grab the apple pie and head over to Cheryl’s house.
Their houses weren’t far apart, just less than a 20–minute walk. He arrived soon enough.
When Jasmine saw Nathan, her face lit up with joy.
“Cherry, Nathan is here,” she called out while pouring him a glass of water.
Nathan glanced around casually. Cheryl’s family was clearly much wealthier than his.
Jasmine worked at the power station, which earned her a good salary with great benefits.
Cheryl’s dad was a construction contractor. In recent years, with the country investing heavily in infrastructure development, he had been making a fortune. He earned about 300 grand a
year.
Well, with a family this well–off, it made sense that they could raise a proud little princess like Cheryl.
Cheryl soon came out of her room. She was dressed in a white nightgown, and her hair was slightly messy since she was at home. She seemed to have a bit more of that girlish charm she rarely showed. However, her pretty face still carried that innate sense of pride.
“Nate, you go ahead and help Cherry with her math. I’m going to grab some groceries. Stay for dinner later, alright?” Jasmine said before heading out.
Being experienced herself, she could easily tell that Nathan had feelings for her daughter.
After all, she had watched him grow up and was quite fond of him. If Nathan and her daughter

could end up together, it would be a lovely story.
After Jasmine left, only Nathan and Cheryl were left in the living room.
Cheryl stared at Nathan without saying anything. Her expression was a mix of frustration and sadness.
Nathan kept things strictly professional.
“My mom promised Mrs. Ginger that I’d help you with math. Let’s get started.”
“Nathan, if Mrs. Frank hadn’t asked, would you have come to tutor me?”
“No.”
Cheryl’s bright gaze dimmed instantly. “Then, I don’t want you to tutor me.”
“Say that again,” Nathan said as he pulled out his phone and started recording.
“What are you doing?”
“Recording it as proof so that when I get home, my mom can’t blame me for not helping.”
