No one came to save me.
Not even Sarah, whom I had saved. When I didn’t return home, she said nothing, focusing solely on the preparations for her wedding the next day.
It was as if I had never existed in their lives
at all.
At the banquet, everyone was in high spirits, and no one inquired about my absence.
Sarah linked her arm with my father’s and smiled as they walked past the elaborately decorated aisle platform at the wedding, and exchanged glances with Matt, who was dressed in a suit and tie up on the platform.

The wedding banquet was extremely luxurious and beautiful, a scene beyond my wildest imagination.
The emcee was handsome and poised, a renowned host who had overseen thousands of weddings, boasting a remarkable 99% approval rating.
As the ceremony reached the ring exchange, a group of police officers suddenly burst through the door.
Their faces were serious as they flashed their badges and moved toward the stage, detaining Sarah.

Sarah, once enveloped in happiness, turned pale, her glistening eyes now radiating fear.
With the officer’s piercing gaze upon her, she struggled to nod.
My parents looked on in alarm at the unfolding scene.
“Officer, what’s going on? We’re in the middle of a wedding!” My mother rushed forward, grabbing the officer’s arm and shouting.
The officer patiently explained, “Sarah is a suspect in a case and needs to be arrested for questioning.”
He glanced around, then back at her, asking, “Are you Kelly’s mother?”

My mother nodded, somewhat confused.
At that moment, Allen stepped forward, questioning, “What kind of case could my sister be involved in? Today is her wedding day! And what does it have to do with Kelly? Could it be that she’s done something bad? I told you, she never understands us!”
His outburst caused the officer’s previously softened expression to harden again.
“As Kelly’s family, you don’t care that she is missing?”
My mother finally sensed something was amiss and, growing increasingly and asked nervously, “What happened to her?”

“Go to the police station? We can talk about it here! What will happen to Sarah’s wedding if she’s taken away?!”
My father, who had been silent and reserved throughout, finally could no longer contain himself; he slammed his hand on the table and unleashed a torrent of insults at the officers.
The police officer sneered.
“Sarah is a criminal suspect. No matter what, this wedding cannot go on!”
