Chapter 1 The Woman Zachary Once Kept
Chapter 1 The Woman Zachary Once Kept
“Please… I beg you, stop hitting me…..
“Don’t hit me again!”
Jocelyn, her slightly swollen belly pressed against the cold floor, pleaded as blood covered her entire body. Her once glossy, jet–black hair had been chopped off, leaving only uneven strands,
Her eyes were sunken, and she looked like a mental patient, dirty and stinking.
This was the third year that Jocelyn had been imprisoned in the basement.
Her mind had been in a daze.
She had no idea how she’d made it through those years.
Every day, that old man, Jerry Becker, had put her through unimaginable torture, and now she was pregnant with his child.
Electric shocks, whips, needles
She’d gone through all sorts of hell, day and night, and she lost count of how many times.
Three years ago, out of jealousy over Zachary’s love for Yvette, Jocelyn secretly drugged her and caused her to lose their baby
As punishment, Zachary handed her over to Jerry, the old man standing before her now. D
She could never forget the cold, cutting words he said. “Josie, you did this, so you have to pay for it.
“From now on, leave Dreunga and make up for what you did to Yvette’s child?”
I was really wrong!
There wasn’t a single day Jocelyn didn’t regret what she had done.
Every day, she desperately hoped that Zachary would come and save her.
She wanted to escape, but it was impossible.
Every time they caught her, she faced even harsher punishments.
Jerry grabbed her hair, yanking her up with excitement “Scream! Go ahead, scream louder! I want to see who’s coming to save you now!
“No wonder Zachary kept you around. When you first got here, I couldn’t wait to have you.
“And you still think Zachary’s gonna come save you? Let me tell you, stop dreaming!

“Three years ago, when he handed you over to me, he was already married to Yvette, the eldest daughter of the Foster family.
“Look at you now. Ha! You’re nothing but a worn–out toy I’ve used
- up.
No, that’s not true!
He wouldn’t marry Yvette!
Zachary promised me!
Jocelyn shook her head, crying, unable to accept the truth.
The next moment, Jerry suddenly unbuckled his belt, grabbed her by the throat, and pinned her against
the wall.
He violated her from behind.
Who knows how long it lasted.
Jocelyn, barely covered, slid slowly down the wall. Her eyes lost their shine, and blood stained the floor beneath her. She lay there motionless, seeming numb to the pain.
After three years of endless torment, it was the first time she thought about giving up.
She had always believed Zachary would come back and rescue her.
She waited for three years. But he never showed up.
From the moment she was sent here, she was already lost.
He married Yvette, and Zachary had completely moved on from her.
Even if he came to rescue her now, what would it matter?
Zachary would never take her back after everything.
She couldn’t go back–it was totally out of the question
After Jerry left, Jocelyn slowly got up from the floor, using her last bit of strength to grab the tool the man had used to hurt her. She shoved it into her chest with all her might.
Her eyes went blank, and she started coughing up blood.
Feeling the familiar pain spread through her body, she looked up at the only window and stared out at the dark, starless night.
Jocelyn shed two final tears before collapsing into the pool of her own blood.
With only a breath left, she opened her eyes to see herself being buried in the dirt.
Jerry held the shovel, covering her with soil.
Big raindrops pounded her eyes.

Her vision gradually darkened, and the sounds around her seemed to fade away.
Zachary, I regret it. I really regret it so much!
Why did you make me meet you and go through all this?
Why did you have to be so cruel to me?
And why…
Even now, I’m dying, all I can think about is you.
Zachary ….
If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t interfere in your relationship with Yvette.
I wouldn’t fall in love with you again!

In the end, as the sounds around her disappeared, Jocelyn, with her eyes still open, slipped into complete
darkness.
Jocelyn was dead.
She died quietly.
She died on a stormy night.
She died in the silent, dark night.
Her body was buried forever in the rubble of a dump.
In 2007, at the Dreunga General Hospital.
“Mr. Price, your sister is awake!”
Jocelyn felt like she was trapped underwater, struggling to reach the surface. Eventually, she grabbed onto something and took a deep breath. When she woke up, she was gasping for air.
As she looked up at the white ceiling and smelled the disinfectant, she realized where she was.
Mr. Price?
Zachary?
Jocelyn’s eyes widened in shock as she looked at the man walking in.
At that moment, seeing Zachary in his expensive black suit, with his mature, reserved, and captivating presence, his deep–set, cold features, she was taken aback.
When she saw him, Jocelyn yanked out the needle from her hand and crawled to Zachary, tears streaming down her face. She clung to his pants and said, “Zac… I’m so sorry!

Zachary crouched down slowly, his usually cold eyes showing a soft, worried look. “Josie? What happened? Who hurt you? Hmm?
“Tell me, what’s going on?”
Jocelyn, tears streaming down her face, stared at him in shock. “Zilc… Zac…”
Something’s off Zachary is supposed to be in his forties, why does he look so young?
He looks like he’s only twenty–eight.
Jocelyn stared at him, trying to take in every detail of his face. She reached out and touched Zachary’s
face. It felt warm, and his handsome features were smooth, without a single wrinkle.
She noticed the scar on his eye that she had accidentally caused during an argument was no longer there.
Zachary looked at her pale, delicate hand but didn’t stop her.
“No… This can’t be real… I should be dead! 10
“This has to be heaven, it must be a lie! Zac… doesn’t want me anymore!”
Zachary said, “Get up first, okay?”
Jocelyn, still in shock and with tears on her face, asked, “Zac, what year is it?”
Zachary reached out and gently brushed the tangled hair from her head. “It’s 2007, and it’s midnight. Look, it’s already dark outside.
Jocelyn stared at him in shock, unable to believe what she was seeing.
I… I didn’t die!
I’m alive again.
Zachary carefully picked her up from the floor and laid her gently on the hospital bed, covering her with a blanket.
He saw the blood on the back of her hand and wiped it off, making sure it was clean.
I committed suicide and I was buried alive by that old man when I had only a breath left, right?
Zachary didn’t dwell too much on her intense reaction He just thought that she might have had a nightmare while she was unconscious.
