Chapter 39
This time, it was all about the clothes.
I selected four or five sets of pajamas along with some changes of outfits, then began sifting through the high–end custom pieces.
As I packed, I couldn’t help but admire
my taste.
My discerning eye had already identified several items by renowned designers. These garments were not just clothing. They were investments, featuring limited edition collaborations and exclusive runway pieces that were truly one of a kind.
Finally, I turned my attention to the bags. Without even glancing at the lower shelves, I reached for everything on the top shelves, which were lined with a stunning collection of Hermès bags.
I felt a surge of satisfaction. Selling these would sustain my luxurious lifestyle for a long time.
Lost in the chaos of packing, I completely lost track of time.
As I headed back to the house for the sixth time, I heard a car pull up outside.
I froze.
Could it be that Jameson was back?
I crept to the window and watched as Jameson climbed out of the car, followed closely by Xandra, that infuriatingly familiar figure.
I scoffed.
Hadn’t Xandra said that she was leaving? So, why was she back with him?
They simply couldn’t wait to be together, could they?
I quickly returned to the master bedroom and tidied up a bit before hiding in the walk–in closet.
After a while, I heard their footsteps approaching.
They paused right outside the room.
I shrank back and sent a message to Chloe.
“Meet me a bit further away. Jameson is here.”
Chloe replied, “Do you want me to call for backup?”
I paused for a moment before responding, “No, it’s okay.”
Then, I heard voices coming from outside the door.

“Jameson, you seem down today. What’s wrong?”
It was Xandra.
“I’m fine,” Jameson replied. “Xan, aren’t you tired? You should rest. I’ll take you to dinner later.”
The door creaked open as someone stepped inside.
Xandra looked around the room, her voice brimming with barely contained excitement. ” Jameson, hasn’t Ms. Lambert returned these past few days?”
Jameson’s voice was somewhat muffled. “No.”
Xandra’s voice was soft. “Jameson, don’t be sad. If she wants to leave, you can’t hold her back. After all… she might have fallen for someone else.”
I scoffed inwardly. This bitch was about to show her true colors.
Jameson’s tone turned icy. “She wouldn’t!”
Xandra was taken aback, just as I was while hiding in the closet.
Jameson’s tone dripped with bitterness. “Wyn wouldn’t fall for someone else. She’s just playing games with me. She’ll be back soon.”
He sneered. “When she does come back, I’ll make sure she knows the consequences.”
A wave of annoyance washed over me.
Xandra looked visibly upset by his words.
She said softly, “Jameson, I know you still love Ms. Lambert.”
Jameson reacted like a cat whose tail had just been stepped on. “No, I don’t! I don’t love her at all!”
Xandra pressed on, “If you don’t love her, then why can’t you let her go? She’s no longer
useful to Brown Corporation. You promised me that once Brown Corporation’s problems were solved, you would…”
Her voice trembled, and it was clear that she was on the verge of tears. “After all these years, do you even remember the promises you made?”
I heard Jameson’s impatient voice outside. “Xan, stop crying. When have I ever broken a promise to you? Didn’t you want that five–carat pink diamond ring? Didn’t I give it to you?
“Because of that diamond, I’d even offended her. If it weren’t for that, she wouldn’t have asked for a divorce.”
Xandra sobbed, “You… Now, you’re blaming me for showing off the diamond and upsetting Wynonna? Are you afraid of her? Do you really think it’s my fault that she wants a divorce?

“Jameson, this is too much! Do you even care about the seven years I’ve waited for you? I went through so much suffering while I was abroad, and it was all because of you.
“Do you have any idea how painful it was for me not to be able to help you? Watching you marry someone else almost killed me.”
Xandra began to talk about her hardships, leaving me utterly dumbfounded.
