Chapter 88
Suddenly, someone standing behind me handed me a glass of milk. I shook my head and said, ” No thanks, I don’t feel well.”
After a while, a warm towel was passed to me. I sighed in resignation and casually laid it across my forehead.
The warmth of the towel soothed my tense nerves, and I finally let out a deep breath.
“Thank you, Chloe,” I said, feeling grateful. “If you weren’t here with me, I would’ve fallen apart a long time ago. I swear, you’ll always be my closest family.”
The emotions were bubbling up from within me as I exclaimed, “Oh, God! How could I have
been so blind to fall for him?”
“Do you think losing my memory was an act of fate?” I murmured.
“Perhaps it’s God giving you a fresh start,” a cool voice replied from behind.
Ljerked back in alarm and somehow twisted my neck.
I removed the towel with shaky hands and turned to look at Tristan behind me, trying to ignore the building pain in my neck.
“H–How long have you been standing there?”
Tristan chuckled. “Since you started all the sighing.”
I felt my face flush with embarrassment.
He noticed my discomfort and asked, “What happened to your neck?”
“I–I strained it just now,” I stammered.
Tristan looked startled by my answer, but then he smiled playfully. He reached out and gently pressed his hands on my neck. A sharp pain shot through me, and I let out a pained groan.
“Here?” he asked.
I nodded with tears in my eyes.
“Hang in there. I’m going to massage it,” he said.
Then, he pressed down firmly with the edge of his palm. In response, I winced in pain.
“It’ll hurt at first, but just bear with it,” he said, trying to comfort me.
Even the slightest movement of my neck made the pain worse, so I couldn’t even nod. As he gradually increased the pressure, the soreness spread throughout my body.
Pained moans escaped from my lips, and tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. The

strain on my neck was taking its toll.
After a moment, I realized how embarrassing the sounds I was making were. So, I clamped my mouth shut, gritted my teeth, and tried my hardest to stay silent.
“Just relax,” Tristan said gently. “Don’t tense up or push back against my hand.”
I gave a small hum in response.
A sudden crack jolted me, and I cried out in pain. My fingers instinctively clutched at his shirt collar.
Just then, a startled exclamation came from the doorway. Tristan and I turned to look simultaneously.
Chloe quickly covered her eyes with one hand while holding a cup of water in the other. “I didn’t see anything! Really, I saw nothing!”
“Chloe, it’s not… it’s not what you think…” I fumbled.
“Oh, I know. I just remembered something I forgot to do. You two keep going,” Chloe replied.
Then, she quickly left the room and closed the door behind her.
I awkwardly looked at Tristan and said, “Chloe must have registered the situation differently. I mean, what we were doing… we weren’t doing anything.”
Tristan didn’t seem to care about my words. Instead, he placed his hand on my neck. “Do you feel better now?” he asked.
I hadn’t even realized it until then, but it didn’t hurt anymore. I tried turning my head and exclaimed happily, “It doesn’t hurt anymore! Wow, Tristan. You’re amazing!”
Tristan’s lips curled into a slight smile. “Let me massage it for you a little longer, or you might twist it again,” he said.
His hands pressed gently and soothingly over my neck as he spoke.
The room fell silent. I stared blankly at our shadows dancing on the wall, elongated by the evening sunlight streaming in through the window.
Our shadows made it look like he was holding me close, his head leaning down to rest against my forehead while his hand gently wrapped around my neck.
Seeing our intertwining shadows made my face flush, a blush creeping up to my neck.
Tristan suddenly chuckled softly.
I shuttered. “W–What are you laughing at?”
