Chapter 10
Chapter 10
ARIA’S POV
I watched as Dante’s face crumpled in disbelief. His eyes, usually so confident, now looked lost and
scared.
“You don’t actually mean that,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “Do you?”
I took a step closer to him, steeling myself. “I meant every word, Dante.”
Silence fell between us, heavy and suffocating. As I looked at him, I felt a wave of self–pity wash over me.
Here I was, pregnant with his child, and I couldn’t even tell him. How could I, when he was acting like such a prick? I wanted to tell him, God knows I wanted to, but the words just wouldn’t come.
“Why?” Dante’s voice cut through my thoughts, sharp and demanding.
“Why what?” I asked, even though I knew exactly what he meant.
“Why do you want a divorce?” He looked at me as if I was a stranger, and maybe I was. Maybe we had both become strangers to each other.
I took a step back, letting out a deep sigh. “I’m tired, Dante. Tired of everything.”
His face softened a bit, and for a moment, I saw a glimpse of the man I fell in love with. “Listen, I know I haven’t been the best husband, but that doesn’t mean you should ask for a divorce.”
+ I felt anger bubble up inside me. “So what, you want me to keep being treated like trash? Not just by you,
but by Linda, your mother, and even the pack members?”
“No, of course not,” he said quickly. “But we can work on that. We can fix this, Aria. We just need time.”
But I was beyond tired. Beyond hurt. Before I knew it, the words were tumbling out of my mouth, loud and raw. “I want a divorce, Dante!”
Something in Dante’s eyes changed in that moment. The softness vanished, replaced by a hard, angry glare. “You know what? I think I know exactly why you are asking for a divorce.”
I stared at him, wondering where he was going with this. “What do you mean?”
He let out a humourless laugh. “I saw you.”
Confusion washed over me. “Saw me where?”
“Don’t play dumb, Aria. It really doesn’t suit you,” he spat.
I snapped. “What the hell are you talking about, Dante?
He stepped closer, his face inches from mine. “I saw you with a man. A strange man.”
My heart skipped a beat, but I kept my face neutral. “What man? Where?”
There was another laugh, cold and mocking, and it made my skin crawl.
“Goodness!! If you have something to say, Dante, just say it,” I said, fighting to keep my voice steady Stop beating around the bush.”
His eyes bore into mine. 1 saw you having a private cake with scam.”
My breath caught in my throat. Who’s Acam?” asked tring to buy me
Dante’s face twisted with anger “You know damit well wnc am taking scount”
I shrugged, pretending not to know honestly have no idea.
