Chapter 11
The next day. Wesley had to attend an academic conference.
1
He insisted that I go with him.
As soon as I sat down, I spotted a familiar figure.
Vincent was surrounded by a group of people, including interview journalists from a TV station and makeup artists.
I turned to find Wesley, only to see him a few meters away, mouthing “Wait for me” to me.
The curtain for the conference slowly lifted, and on stage, Vincent sat under the spotlight, basking in the admiration of everyone.
Of course, except for me.
Vincent wasn’t a fool. Even if the achievements he presented weren’t his own, he would still
study and digest the work.
So when scholars from all fields asked him questions, he answered them effortlessly, with
no flaws to be found.
But then something interesting happened.
Wesley, accompanied by a few others, walked up to the center of the stage and began to question Vincent face to face.
As for the questions, I couldn’t even repeat them.
The professional knowledge was like trying to play the violin for a cow–it was beyond me.
All I knew was that his academic achievements were another case of stolen work.
This time, the student whose work was stolen had set a trap in the paper.
But Vincent didn’t notice. When facing the group’s questioning, his forehead showed an uncommon sheen of sweat..
He stammered:
“This kind of situation has a one in a million chance of happening, so I won’t dwell on it here.‘
“You’re lying! According to our data, the probability of this situation occurring is 2.5 out of a thousand–it’s not a rare event!”
Wesley took out the research data and showed it to the audience and the media.
In an instant, the room erupted into an uproar.
Wesley’s smile curved into a beautiful arc, and his confident expression told me that his revenge was just beginning.
Vincent, standing behind him, sensed that something was off.
When Wesley took out a stack of documents with photos, Vincent completely panicked!
He displayed an extremely rare expression of fear:
“What are you going to do?!”
Vincent shouted angrily at Wesley.
But Wesley ignored him completely. Instead, in front of everyone, he revealed all the evidence of Vincent stealing research from himself and others…
