Chapter 30
Lukas remained expressionless. “I don’t know about that. I’m not a mind reader!”
Reese frowned. “Then what did you mean by your words just now?”
Lukas raised an eyebrow slightly. “Just a reasonable guess. Don’t you think Clark would use the same. trick against you? Dumbass!”
“You…” Reese didn’t have the courage to curse at him, but she felt indignant. “Even if he recorded something, I also have a full recording of the entire conversation. If he dares to edit the recording to make me admit to setting him up, I’ll release the full recording to prove my innocence. Let’s see whose side people will stand on!”
As she spoke, Reese took out her phone and opened the recording app.
She had learned her lesson and was now careful in every situation.
Lukas didn’t expect that even after the press conference was over, Reese was still recording. He looked a
bit surprised. “It seems like you’ve grown a bit wiser!”
Reese’s mouth twitched in frustration. “Lukas, with that sharp tongue of yours, you probably don’t have
many friends. Am I right?”
Lukas’s eyes flickered. “I indeed don’t have many friends, but I prefer quality over quantity!”
Lukas’s gaze seemed to carry a hidden meaning as he glanced at Reese.
Reese felt a surge of bitterness. She sensed a deep disdain from him.
Feeling aggrieved, she turned her head to look out the window. She had her own temper too. “Are we leaving or not?”
Lukas’s eyes deepened, surprised that she was actually throwing a tantrum.
He unexpectedly thought of Emily. Every time she got angry, she also looked ferocious like this.
He suddenly reached out, playfully pinching Reese’s soft cheek. His large hand supported the back of her head, turning her face towards him. “What? Are you mad? Did I say something wrong?”
This position brought the two of them closer, and with his hand supporting her neck, Reese’s body stiffened, but she raised her head stubbornly. “I’m not!”
Lukas sneered, his tone full of disdain. “Whether you are mad or not, your judgment of people is poor!”

Reese couldn’t accept that. “Then what about you, Mr. Strakovski? I chose to marry you. Does that mean you’re saying that I’m lousy, or that I’m blind to have chosen you?”
Lukas’s eyes turned dangerous. “Reese… Are you provoking me?”
Reese retorted, “What if I am?!”
Lukas’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “Reese, sometimes, being overly independent is not a positive trait!”
Reese retorted, “There’s no sense of self without you!”
“Then get out of the car!” Lukas’s face darkened, and he refused to say another word to her.
He must have been out of his mind to think that this woman was interesting and come here specifically to help her.
With a tense expression, Reese opened the door of the passenger seat and stepped out immediately.
She had barely stepped out and hadn’t stood firmly when Lukas pressed the gas pedal, speeding away, leaving her choking on the exhaust fumes from the car. She was so angry that she stomped her feet.
How could there be such a petty man?
Through the rearview mirror, Lukas saw Reese stomping her feet, and his mood inexplicably improved.
He couldn’t help but curl his lips.
Reese took out her phone, intending to contact her best friend, Ava, when Ava’s call came in.
“Reese, the press conference is over. Where are you?” Ava’s cold voice came from the other end of the
phone.
Reese pursed her lips. “I’m downstairs at Trifleming Jewelry. What’s up?”
Ava spoke in a low voice, “Come over now. I’m waiting for you at the pastry cafe!”
When Reese arrived at the pastry cafe, Ava was already sitting in her usual spot with a laptop in front of
her.
Reese walked over to her. “How is it? What’s the situation online?”
Ava Smith was a computer expert, commonly known as a hacker, and had quite a reputation online under the alias of V. She had helped Reese post the screenshot of Reese’s application for the Century Jewelry Competition, and she had also timed the posts on social media before the press conference.
Ava had a cold personality, but she was the only friend that Reese trusted.

After hearing Reese’s question, Ava turned the laptop toward her. “See for yourself!” She simply said.
Reese leaned over, and the first thing she saw was the latest statement posted on the official website of Strakovski Jewelry.
