Chapter12
Sam leaped out of bed. “Really?!”
“Yeah.”
“Why didn’t Tanya tell me?”
“I just finished my work here. I haven’t told her yet.”
Sam was ecstatic. “Don’t tell Tanya, Dad! Let’s give her a surprise!”
Okay.”
“You’re the best dad ever! I love you!”
After hanging up, Sam danced around his room, overjoyed. Then, he thought of Ashley. He had been in a better mood since Ashley stopped calling him.
At the beginning, to avoid her calls, he’d leave early, put his phone far away, or just turn it off. After two days, he stopped doing that because he worried she might be angry. But she still hadn’t called.
At first, he thought she knew he’d been avoiding her, but then he realized that it was impossible. If mom thought he had done something wrong, she would tell him to fix it instead of giving him the cold shoulder. She loved him most. She would never be mad at him.)

Suddenly, he missed Ashley. It was rare. Then, he called her.
It suddenly occurred to him that Mom was also in China and she would definitely stop him from seeing Tanya. He wouldn’t be able to see Tanya whenever he wanted anymore. His mood soured. It was the middle of the night in China. Ashley was asleep. Sam’s call jolted her awake. She was about to answer when he angrily hung up. Even though she’d given up custody in the divorce papers, Sam was still her son and she was responsible to him. She called him back, wondering what had happened. But he ignored her. Then, she called Maria.
