The matriarch frowned, “It’s late. Where are they?” She remembered Chase’s absence at the ho spring resort. She told Ashley, “Ashley, call them.”
Ashley called Chase. He answered, knowing why.“Twenty minutes.”
Before Ashley could speak, Sam said, “Goodbye, Aunt Tanya.”
Ashley lowered her eyes. They were with Tanya. She heard Tanya say softly to Chase, “I’m going upstairs now.”
Shase:“Hmm.” He asked Ashley coldly,“Anything else?”
Ashley:“No.” She was about to hang up, but he did it first.
