Chapter163
Even in an older neighborhood, the villa was beautiful, and considering the sky–high real estate prices in the city, it easily cost two or three million dollars. She couldn’t afford it.
Chase, having just arrived, loosened his tie. He seemed amused by her words, raising an eyebrow slightly. You want to pay me?”
Yes, 1-
No need,” he said, setting his tie aside and then his watch.“I can afford it.” He then went into the bathroom.
Ashley stared at his back, stunned, and didn’t press the issue. After their marriage, she’d almost never asked him for anything to avoid being a burden. This house was the first thing he’d ever given her.
She considered it a memento of their soon–to–end marriage. With that thought, she placed the deed in a drawer.
After three busy days, Ashley finally had a less hectic schedule. She and Chase had both been busy, leaving little time for Sam. At lunchtime, Sam called, asking if Ashley was free; she hadn’t picked her up from school in a while.
Ashley, seeing that she had finished most of her work, left early that afternoon to pick up Sam. The girl wanted her to cook dinner, so after getting home, Ashley changed and went into the
kitchen.
Grandma was happy that Ashley was home early and even happier to see her cooking. She called Chase to tell him to come home for dinner.
He refused.“Grandma, I still have work.”
