prepare extra dishes.
Ashley couldn’t argue with that. But how could she deliver dinner when she didn’t know which office he was at? And even if she did, he probably had other plans after work, making her trip pointless.
She found an opportunity to go upstairs and call Chase. After a pause, he answered, “What is it?” “Grandma wants me to bring you dinner,” Ashley said, quickly adding, “Do you have other plans? If so, I’ll tell Grandma.” She didn’t expect him to want her to bring him dinner; this was a way to get him to cooperate.
“Hmm, tell Grandma-”
Ashley heard a woman’s voice.“Chase, the food’s here.”
Ashley paused. Chase replied, “Okay.” Then, to Ashley, he said, “I have plans for dinner. Tell Grandma.”
She wasn’t surprised. “Okay, I’ll tell Grandma.”
“Mm. He hung up.
