Zark
said goodbye to Dan Dan, then
thanked Ashley. “You’re
welcome.”
It was almost completely dark. The mountain path had lights, making it easy to go down. She turned to leave. Zark followed, but they didn’t speak.
As they reached the resort, they ran into Tanya. Seeing them descending the mountain, one behind the other, she froze, then tightened her lips.
Ashley ignored her, heading straight into the lobby. Tanya watched her go, then turned to Zark,
rowning. “Zark, you…”
Zark said calmly, “We ran into each other on the mountain.”
Tanya knew he had been video–chatting with Dan Dan and gone up to film the apple trees. If Ashley was also there, it was perfectly normal for them to meet.
Tanya relaxed. Before she could speak, Zark asked, “Where are they?”
“By the pavilion. The bonfire materials
are ready; they’re waiting for you.”
“Mm.” They walked towards the pavilion side–by–side.
