Grandma Rong and Grandma Sterling were good friends. Grandma Sterling should attend, bu she was older. According to their customs, those older than the birthday person don’t typically attend.
Grandma Rong hadn’t had a large party for several years, just a family dinner. Chase hadn tended any of them, initially claiming he was busy. But Ashley knew he’d attend other events. Every year, she’d still ask if he was free to come; every year, she was disappointed
