Once they were a safe distance away, Mr. Fan asked, “Is there some kind of misunderstanding between you and the Lins?”
Tim and Ashley exchanged a glance. Ashley replied, “No.”
Because it wasn’t a misunderstanding; it was much more complicated. Mr. Fan, however, took her words at face value.
“Good,” he said, his tone turning serious.“Given Chase’s devotion to Miss Lin, the Lin family is bout to rise to great heights. The Sterling family and Chase are not people you want to cross. Even if you don’t cultivate a close relationship with the Lins, you certainly don’t want to offend them.”
Ashley chuckled, finding the situation ironic. She was probably the only person in the world who was being advised to befriend and not offend her husband’s mistress because of her husband’s obsession with said mistress.
Tim couldn’t let the comment stand.“Chang Mo doesn’t fear Chase.”
Thanks to their CUAP (presumably a government agency) connections, their company enjoyed government significant government protection. Chase hadn’t been able to touch Chang Mo recently, and their current projects were, if Tim guessed correctly, about to receive substantial support. Their company’s size would significantly increase within the next year, making them‘ even more untouchable to Chase. His confidence wasn’t empty bravado; it was Ashley’s hard–earned security.
