Leaving XunDu, Tim remained furious. He asked Ashley, “Who was that woman behind Tanya in the business suit? She gave you a nasty look. Do you know her?”
“Tanya’s cousin,” Ashley replied.
Tim sighed.“Chase brought Tanya to XunDu, and now her family? At this rate, XunDu will be renamed Lin Corporation.”
Ashley agreed. Given Chase’s devotion to Tanya, giving XunDu to her wouldn’t surprise her. Hiring Sun’s family was nothing.
Tim decided to drop it, knowing further discussion would only fuel his anger. That evening, working on replicating the engine specs, they returned home very late. It started snowing on the way. Ashley was about to shower when her phone rang–Chase. Ignoring it, she showered. She later found two missed calls and a message about Sam’s parent–teacher meeting. She replied: I’m busy tomorrow.

He nodded.

The next day, while discussing work with Su Yuquan at ChangMo, Ashley’s phone buzzed. It was Sam’s teacher: “Mrs. Sterling, won’t you be attending Sam’s parent–teacher meeting?” Ashley replied, “I have other commitments.”
Moments later, another message:“Sam’s father and another woman attended today…” A photo accompanied the message. Chase and Tanya were sitting together, Sam nestled against Tanya.
