He didn’t think much of it, assuming Ashley had gone to her family’s. Then, he remembe she usually took Sam with her. However, Sam was here. She didn’t go to her family’s? something wrong? He remembered what Justin said and knew something was off. He but decided not to dig in.
The next morning, Chase said to Sam, “Your school enrollment is complete. You’ll go to tomorrow morning.”
“Okay,” Sam frowned.“Will you take me, Dad?”

Before Chase could respond, his phone rang–it was his grandmother.
“I heard you’re back.”
“Yes.”
“Did Sam come back too?”
“Yes.”
“I miss him. Have dinner with me, Ashley, and Sam tonight.”
“Okay.”

“She’s not here.”
