Seeing Chase extend his hand, Ashley handed him the flowers, avoiding eye contact with Ethan and Zark. She went to Emily’s bedside.“How are you feeling?”
“It still hurts, but I can handle it,” Emily replied, slightly weary from the recent surgery. She reached out, taking Ashley’s hand.“You must have had a long day at work. Did you eat? Maybe you can have dinner with Chase and the others later.”
Ashley said, “No, Grandma, I ate at the office.”
Seeing Ashley’s continued coldness towards Chase, Emily sighed. Ashley chatted with Emily for a while and decided to leave when Emily seemed tired. Emily asked Chase to see her out, and since Ethan and Zark were going to dinner, they joined them downstairs.
In the elevator, noticing Ethan’s persistent stare, Ashley glared at him coldly.“Are you done?”
Ethan felt awkward.“…Almost.”
Ashley ignored him. She was the first one out of the elevator. Chase and the others followed. As Ashley put some distance between them, Ethan whispered to Chase, “Why do I feel like she’s a different person? Has she really moved on? But… I don’t believe it.”
Chase looked at Ashley’s back, remaining silent. Zark hadn’t heard them.“What were you saying?”
Ethan repeated the question. Zark’s reaction was similar to Chase’s; he watched Ashley’s back, offering no comment.
At the hospital entrance, Chase said to Ashley’s back, “Sam is at the Jones residence.”
Ashley paused but said nothing, heading towards the parking lot. Tanya was still there. Seeing them, she walked over.

Ashley went straight to her car and drove away, paying no attention to the four of them.

Sam put down his iPad, hugging her leg.“Mommy, Daddy said I could stay with
you for two days. After we visit Great–Grandma tomorrow morning, can we go skiing?”
Before Ashley could answer, Sheldon and Henry chimed in.“Yes! Let’s go skiing!”
Ashley couldn’t refuse.“…Fine.”
Sam happily said, “I’ll call Daddy!” He called Chase. Without listening to their conversation, Ashley headed upstairs.
The next morning, Ashley didn’t see Tanya at the hospital, but Chase seemed to been working from the hospital. As she and Sam entered, he was reviewing documents. Sam called out, “Daddy!”
The next second, he saw a table laden with fruits, pastries, and drinks. It looked like it was for younger people. He rushed over.“Wow, SO much good stuff! And milk tea!”
“Yes,” Chase said.“I knew you were coming.” He glanced at Ashley but was ignored again. He turned to Henry and Sheldon.“Have a seat.”
Chase’s aura was too strong. After greeting Emily, Sheldon and Henry sat with Sam, eating the treats Sam and Chase offered. After the kids were settled, Chase offered Ashley a bottle of drink.“Try it?”

Emily was watching, so Ashley took it.“Thank you.” She took a sip, finding it was her favorite strawberry flavor.
Learning about their skiing trip, Emily told Chase, “Why don’t you go with them? Skiing is dangerous. Ashley can’t handle three children alone. You must be there and give her a hand. With the housekeeper and carer here. You don’t need to worry about me.” Before Ashley could speak, Chase said, “Okay.”
Sam was thrilled that Chase was joining them. After a while, they left. Chase packed his things and joined them.
They went in two cars. Sam and the Joneses were with Ashley.
At the ski resort, Chase helped Sam with his gear when his phone rang. He walked away to answer it.“I’ll come later.”
Sam asked, “Daddy, who was that?”
Chase didn’t answer.“You want lunch with Daddy or with Mommy?”
Sam was taken aback.“Ah? Aren’t we eating together?”
Chase said, “No, I have something to handle.”
Ashley and her cousins heard this but didn’t comment. Chase ruffled Sam’s hair.“Don’t worry, ski first. We can think about it later.”
“Okay!”
While the children chatted nearby, Ashley put on her goggles and turned to Chase.“The divorce… isn’t it settled yet?”
Chase said, “Not yet.” He paused.“If you need money urgently, I’ll have some transferred to your
account.”
That wasn’t what Ashley wanted to discuss. Before she could speak, Sam called, “Mommy, come here!”
Ashley didn’t continue, but her phone rang. It was Steve.
