Chapter48
Zark said nothing. He didn’t want to comment on her. But her manner today was different–like she had dropped her past self, but not entirely. Her gaze was cold, sharp, and mocking. Ashley ignored him and left. Then, she took Jack back to the apartment Lily rented for him. It wast 11 pm when she dropped him off. She was hungry.
“Ashley, let’s have late–night snacks!”
Ashley agreed. Her stomach rumbled. Jake heard that.“You didn’t have dinner?”
No.”
Jake felt bad.“I’m sorry…”
“It’s okay, I wasn’t hungry when I came to you.”
He felt sorry for her. He liked her so much, but his brother just didn’t see the good in her… She even gave up on their marriage.
Chase and the others returned home near 1 am. The butler asked with concern, “What took you so long, Mr. Sterling?”
Chase hummed in response. He took Sam to bed and entered his room. It was empty. He asked the butler, “She didn’t come home tonight?”
“No, sir.”
Chase was surprised. Ashley hadn’t been home much lately. This was unusual. Did something happen at her family?
