Ashley looked healthier; Amanda felt relieved. After making dumplings and chatting, Ashley went upstairs. Sam was getting up. Ashley was putting away his pajamas when his phone buzzed–it was Tanya.
“Are you up? I’ll be back this afternoon. Dinner together? I’ll take you out tomorrow!” Ashley glanced at it and ignored it. When she returned, Sam was secretly texting Tanya. She didn’t expose him. “The dumplings are ready. Let’s eat.”
am jumped out of bed happily.“I haven’t had Mom’s dumplings in ages!” At breakfast, Amanda asked, “Sam, what do you want for dinner? I’ll have them make it.” Sam knew Amanda disliked Tanya. He said softly, “Dad’s coming home tonight; I’m gonna have dinner with him…”
Amanda didn’t think much of it, she knew Sam was close to Chase. Ashley, knowing he was lying said to Amanda, “It’s okay, I’ll have dinner with you.” It seemed odd for a woman to stay at her grandma’s house when her husband was home, but Amanda was okay with that. She didn’t want Ashley to focus on Chase.
“Okay, our Ashley is so sweet.”
Sam was relieved. Amanda prepared food for Sam, but Ashley said Sam didn’t need it and that she could give it to the other kids. Ashley asked Chase’s butler to pick up Sam; she didn’t want to be his driver this. Amanda found it odd but didn’t think much of it.
