Her account should be nearly empty, but Sam’s was not. Sam had been living in LA with Chase for over a year, which saved her a lot of money. Therefore, she had over ten million bucks left. Ten million bucks meant nothing to Chase. It was hers, so she transferred the money to another account without hesitation, leaving them two empty cards. Then, she left the house with resolution.
She had a small apartment near her office, a cozy seventy–square–meter space. Four years ago, she bought it to support a struggling real estate agent friend, but had never lived there. Now, it rved its purpose. It had been regularly cleaned, so all she needed was to put her stuff in.
PM, Ashley was in bed after showering.

Buzz… buzz… buzz…
The phone’s vibration was jarring in the quiet night, pulling Ashley from sleep. There was a moment of blankness. Then she remembered it was 8 AM in LA, breakfast time for Chase and Sam.
Since Sam moved to LA, she called him every morning. Busy with work, she’d set a vibrating alarm to ensure she wouldn’t forget it.
