Chapter 5
I shot Ash an exasperated glare, my checks flushing.
Julian’s voice continued through the speaker: “Well, well, Ash! What are you up to? Is there a woman with you? Wait – is it the same one from the video call earlier?”
Two years had passed, and it was just a small sound I’d made.
Besides, Julian had been surrounded by so many women lately that he didn’t recognize my voice.
Ash clearly had no intention of responding to Julian. His eyes were fixed on me, dark with desire.
I glared at him and tried to escape his embrace, crawling toward the other side of the bed. But before I could get far, he caught my ankle and pulled me back.
Julian kept talking: “Come on, man, you have to introduce us to whoever finally melted that ice–cold heart of yours! Now that you’re finally interested in someone, you can’t keep turning down all the girls I try to set you up with!
“Oh, and about the engagement party – I was going to ask you to convince Olivia to come, but since you’ve always despised her…”
Julian’s words were cut off as Ash impatiently ended the call.
He tossed the phone aside and carried me to the bathroom in one swift motion.
When we finally emerged three hours later, Ash wore a satisfied smile while I shot him another angry glare, collapsing onto the bed and ignoring him.
I checked my phone and found a text message from one of Julian’s friends.
Two years ago, Julian had introduced me to everyone in his social circles.
[Olivia, Julian’s getting engaged in seven days. Please talk some sense into him! He’ll regret this when his memory returns! This isn’t what he really wants!]
I glanced at the message once before deleting it and tossing my phone aside. I wasn’t the type to go looking for drama. What did Julian’s engagement have to do with me?
When Ash reached out to pull me into his arms, I shot him a warning glare and quickly moved away.
I definitely wasn’t up for another three–hour session!
