Chapter 3
Two hours Inter, Victoria started calling.]
One call after another, as if she was in a complete pante[]
I didn’t pick up any of them, so she switched to texting:
“Charlotte, something terrible happened! Your daughter set herself on fire and committed suicider“]
“You said you were going home to be with her today. Where are you? Check your phone and get home now!“]
Message after message, urging me to hurry home.]
I didn’t even bother responding. Instead, I turned off my phone, opened a bottle of champagne at the office, and sipped it leisurely.
Half an hour later, with the champagne finished, I turned my phone back on and saw my name all over social media.
Everyone was talking about me, and the comments were brutal.[]
People were even live streaming.
The scene? My house.]
In the video, Victoria stood outside, tears streaming down her face as she spoke to the camera with heartache:
“Tve known Charlotte for decades. She’s always been extreme, and a bit violent. No one really wanted to be friends with her.”
“After her daughter got married, she constantly complained to me about her son in law, saying he wasn’t good enough. Over time, she even started hating her own daughter because of it.”
“I thought she was just venting, but I had no idea she would go so far as to drive her daughter to death to force a divorce.”
“I’ve been calling her for hours, trying to get her to come home, but it’s like she doesn’t even care that her daughter is dead. What kind of mother does that?”
As she spoke, Victoria played a recording of my daughter’s final phone call to her.
Through the speaker, my daughter’s tearful voice echoed:
“Aunt Victoria, my mom she killed my baby.“]
“She beats me every day, but now, she’s even killed my child. I can’t live like this anymore. I don’t want to face her, that monster.”
And with that, the call ended.]
The moment that recording aired, the livestream exploded with activity.[]
The comments flooded in, full of sorrow for my daughter and disgust for me as a mother.]
Matthew was there, too. He cradled our daughter’s body, weeping into the camera as he raged:[]
“I came from a family with nothing, and marrying Into Charlotte’s family meant I never had any real say in anything. But when my daughter got pregnant, Charlotte tricked her into coming home from her husband’s place, claiming It was to care for her, but it was really to torture her!”
“Every time I tried to stand up for her, she would hit both of us. She treated us like we weren’t even human!“]]
Matthew rolled up his sleeves and showed the camera the bruises on his arms,
“I tried to leave her. I told her I wanted a divorce, but she threatened to have me and my whole family killed if I did!“]
“I was too scared to do anything, so I stayed quiet. But the one time I stepped out to buy a chicken for our daughter, she pushed her to her death“]
“I still can’t believe how she could do something so cruel.
Just like in my previous life, Matthew gave an emotional, Oscar worthy performance, telling everyone about the horrors he and our daughter supposedly endured at my hands.
The crowd was incensed.]
“How can a woman be this evil? She killed her own grandchild just to force a divorce!”
my
“And the way she cried over her daughter earlier? Total act! I can’t believe I almost felt sorry for her!”
“She’s a monster! She doesn’t even deserve to be alivet
The crowd’s fury reached a fever pitch. People were shouting that I needed to be killed. They wanted justice.
Seeing that the atmosphere was ripe, I finally headed home.
When I arrived, the house was surrounded by people.
As soon as Matthew spotted me, he stood up and, through tears, screamed at the top of his lungs:
“Charlotte, why did you kill our daughter?!”
Matthew screamed in anguish, his raw emotion stirring up the crowd.
One by one, people joined in, their eyes red with fury, shouting insults at me at the top of their lungs.]
Some even threw rotten vegetables and eggs in my direction
The comments flooding the livestream were even worse, filled with the most vile curses and threats.
I stood there, buried under the stench of garbage, as all eyes were fixed on me with pure hatred, as if they wanted to tear me apart.
But I just smiled slightly.
Then, I did something that left everyone utterly shocked…]
