“Nolan’s POV*
My grips around the steering wheel tightened as I struggled to see the road in front of me. I was calmn as a duck, or at least that was what other people saw, but the truth was that I was hung inside, completely clueless about what I was supposed to
The report from production still hadn’t come in and something bade me think that It was probably Zoe’s Idea to not let Is out just yet, even for me. I was tires of cursing, being ignorait about everything, and avunning that just because I was Alpha, things were always going to go my way.
That so far, wasn’t working for me because I saw exactly how it was back at the ball, I was smacked hard across the face by Alpha Xavier and no one cared to intervene. And worse of all he now had Ashley by his side and possibly was now the father of my kid.
“Shit!” I screamed, slamming my hand against the wheel. My mind was a complete chaos of thoughts and my reality was even worse. I took a deep breath and tried to focus on the more important thing which was to get the company back to
where it was
I had the responsibility as an Alpha to protect my pack, and I couldn’t be caught doing the opposite. I had to first convince them that all of it, just like Zoe said, was a big misunderstanding
I was heading to the middle of the city, I had taken Xander up or what be offered, a conversation with him. He was the only one that I could count on, especially in this sort of situation and had taken me almost the whole day to realize that
I took a quick tum, but just then, I noticed something that had been there before, or maybe it was what I hadn’t realized was there. There was a massive building that took almost all of that block, built with so much quality that was intimidating.
I “What is this?” I asked, looking up to see what company it was, and then I saw it boldly written at the top The Mira group. didn’t know what that was, and I couldn’t say that had heard that name before.
I took my eyes off it and focused back on the road and in a few minutes, I got to my destination. I came down from the car cautiously, looking around to see if there were any journalists who were looking to make the next big headline.
I headed towards the restaurant and got in, it was almost empty and the people in there were minding their own business. looked up and saw Xander waving his hands, so I walked towards him.
“Alpha.” He greeted me as I approached him, bowing his head slightly.
“You don’t have to do that every time,” I said to him firmly as I took my seat. He smiled and took his seat as well
“I literally haven’t done that in a while, it’s quite refreshing you know.” He said, still with a smile.
“Then don’t do it at all, it makes me uncomfortable,” I said honestly, looking around to see if there were any cameras. Xander touched my shoulder gently and smiled.
“I swept this place clean, he said proudly. I nodded and felt a little comfortable. He was the brains and strength, that’s why he was my Beta and I was just the pretty face and something more, but none of that mattered now.
“But seriously, Nolan. Xander continued, grabbing a handful of chips from the bowl. “I can’t stop greeting you with respect. especially when we’re out in front of the pack members. They’llome for my head,” he said playfully, but I knew he was
serious.
He didn’t have to say that, but somehow he did. It wasn’t relevant but I could tell he was trying to cheer me up, considering how deep I was in a hot pot of boiling mess.
“I get it,” I said quietly and then took a deep breath. We sat in silence for a while and I could hear the distant murmurs from

“You should eat, you look like shit and I guess you must be pret hungry.” He said, breaking the silence.
“That’s not why I’m here.” I cut in harshly but immediately regated my reaction. I lifted my eyes to look at him as he still had a smile on, he didn’t seem to be affected by how grumpy I was.
“You’re crazy,” I said, letting out a small laugh. He chuckled and nodded his head.
“That’s why you need me.” He said with a smile, but then his face turned serious.
“I saw the News.” He said quietly, munching off the chips from the bowl which was now almost finished.
“What are you going to do?” He asked me, chewing as he did.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” I asked rhetorically, knowing that he was probably going to say something smart, something that I probably needed.
“You’re running away, at least it seems like that. Running might be a strong word, but you’re not doing anything else that shows that you aren’t rugning, or hiding.”
I winced dryly, acknowledging that he was probably right.
“It’s Zoe,” I said firmly. I wasn’t the type that would run from the blame, but at this point, it was almost impossible to take the

1 frowned at what he just said, but yet again he wasn’t completely wrong. My mind drified back to the office as she walked out of It with her shoulders slumping down and how I had gone out of the company with all my employees staring at me like they hadn’t seen me before.
I was supposed to take responsibility, but there I was, hiding from what had already been done. I lifted my eyes and stared at Xander, mad at how one minute he could be funny and the next he would be the smartest man in the room, but so far it wasn’t a bad choice going to him, he was my Beta after all.
“So what are you going to do now?” He asked, obviously noticing that I had thoughts running through my mind.
