Lillian truly lived up to her reputation as a highly paid secretary. Within just ten minutes of Lenora hanging up the phone, she had already instructed another secretary to draft a stern and powerful warning letter, which she promptly sent to
Lenora’s email.
Lenora glanced at it briefly before pinning it to the top of her Twitter account. She then directly tagged a few highly active marketing accounts in the comments section of her tweet, the message was clear without saying more.
With this warning issued, the comment section below turned calm and orderly. Even the haters of Aran and Emory quieted down.
Lenora’s Twitter account quickly rose to fifth place on the trending list, while Cassidy held first place, followed by Aran in second, Emory in fourth, and even the newcomer Anthony’s Twitter made it to eighth place. The impact of the entire situation was evident.
Carla, scrolling through her phone at home, saw the tide of comments online turn around and her face almost twisted with
anger.
‘Ormonde Entertainment is just a little entertainment company that has risen in recent years. Although no one knows how Lenora becomes the behind-the-scenes boss of Ormond Entertainment, the Brandt family can crush such an entertainment company in no time!’ thought Carla.
After returning from abroad, Carla had been coddled as the little princess of the Brandt family for a few years, nearly forgetting that Harley owned the Brandt family and she didn’t hold any shares.
During the three years Lenora was in the Brandt family, Lenora was mocked and scolded daily by Gwen and Carla, practically nonexistent.
Now, Lenora suddenly became the center of attention, and Carla couldn’t stand it. “Mom, look at this!”
Gwen had already received several calls from other ladies, asking what was going on with Lenora, their daughter-in-law, who they thought was just a poor gold digger, and how she suddenly became the big boss of some entertainment company.
Gwen had no idea what was happening. During the three years Lenora was married into the Brandt family, although she wasn’t doing household chores every day, Gwen kept a close eye on her and hardly let her go out, fearing she might embarrass them.
After receiving several calls, Gwen felt a lump in her throat, making it hard to breathe. Seeing Carla come down from the third floor, she glared at her angrily. “Look at you! She’s already divorced from Harley. Why do you care about her all day long? You should focus on how to get into the Valentine family.”
Carla didn’t take Gwen’s scolding seriously and pouted. “Mom, doesn’t it bother you? Look how Lenora has changed after the divorce. Just look at what people are saying about her online. Some are even saying Harley might have lost out in the divorce.”
Although Gwen was clearer-headed than Carla, when it came to Harley, she couldn’t think straight
Having lived nearly sixty years, Gwen relied on Harley, her only son, to dominate over other wealthy families in the city. She would never allow any stain on his reputation, even if there were, she would wash it clean.
“What loss? She couldn’t even get pregnant in three years. What loss could there be?” Gwen was angry.
“Mom, you may think so, but netizens don’t. Just look!” Carla had done her fair share of backstabbing before. This time, she thought she could destroy Lenora and expose her to the point of no return, but the situation took an unexpected turn.
The turnaround was beyond her expectations. Unwilling to accept defeat, she sought out Gwen.

As expected, Gwen’s expression turned from pale to flush upon seeing the comments online and recalling the calls she had received earlier.
‘Were those ladies mocking me?’ Unable to bear it, Gwen immediately called Harley.
However, Harley was in a bad mood. As soon as Gwen called out to him, he responded angrily, “You better control Carla. If this blows up, I won’t get involved.”
With that, he hung up the call. He lifted his glass of red wine to his lips and drained it in one gulp, then turned around expressionlessly and walked back into his room.
Lenora had a good night’s sleep and felt refreshed the next morning.
Lillian called her at the time she usually got up. “Morning, Ms. Maynard. The lawyer’s letter has been delivered to Carla. However-”
She hesitated, but Lenora knew what she was about to say. So, Lenora asked, “What did she say?”
“She asked how much money you want.”
That sounded just like Carla. Lenora smiled. “Tell Bert to prepare for litigation.”
“I know what to do, Ms. Maynard,” said Lillian.
“Thank you for your hard work.” Lenora smiled.
“It’s my job.”
After hanging up, Lenora got up planning to make herself a sandwich for breakfast.
The sunlight outside the window was romantic, and it was indeed a nice day. Lenora was in a great mood, but Devon wasn’t faring as well.
First thing in the morning, upon arriving at the office, his secretary informed him that Dawn Rights had suddenly called to say they wouldn’t sell the promising IP drama’s film right they had planned to sign last week to the company.
It was fine for him that Dawn Rights wouldn’t sell. Although good IPs were rare, Zhenith Group, being such a large company, wasn’t short of one IP.
But Dawn Rights turned around and contacted Galaxy Studio instead. Galaxy Studio had been Zhenith Group’s rival for so many years.
‘Isn’t this action by Dawn Rights a slap in the face to us? We can lose this deal, but having a slap across the face is intolerable,’ thought Devon.
He immediately slammed the proposal on the table in anger. “Contact the person in charge at Dawn Rights!”
The secretary trembled with fright and nodded repeatedly before making the call to Dawn Rights.
Just as Lenora was driving out of the villa, Lillian called her again. “Ms. Maynard, Mr. Valentine wants an explanation from Dawn Rights. Mr. Zeph Snyder asked me to check if you are available tonight. You might need to attend a dinner.”
Lenora raised her eyebrows, “I’m not available. Tell Zeph to talk directly to Devon. Investors have the final say; there’s no need to discuss anything else.”
“Okay, Ms. Maynard.”

After hanging up, Lenora restarted her car parked by the roadside. The red Ferrari sped away, leaving behind a trail of dust and elegance.
Today was Lenora’s twenty-seventh birthday, and it was also exactly one hundred days since she escaped from the disaster that was Harley.
Either way, it was a day worth celebrating.

Lenora was too easygoing about life. Ever since her divorce and a trip outside, she found the world too exciting. She thought she was blind before, spending three years on a man like Harley who had someone else in his heart.
So, for her birthday this time, she generously rewarded herself with a yacht. The yacht arrived at the port last night, and now she drove over to see her twenty-seventh birthday present.
